Hello I'm New Today!

(66 posts)
  1. You can do a page for Tux just the same way you've done for Babs, just with the appropriate dates, and an RIP after the name. I can't for the life of me remember how to do the avator thing when it comes to changing that picture, (someone else far better with techie stuff will help you with this!), but if you go to Edit your profile and cut & paste your catster URL into the relevant box, we'll be able to click on your avator and see them.

  2. Indeed I will MCW, thank you, I love shenanighans
    Kae :-)

    *edit*

Just saw your post - cool, thank you! I was hoping I could do a page for Tux, and it would be linked with Babs' too, just as your furbabies are all on one page, and but will give it a go x

  3. Hi Kaefie, welcome to our litter! Its a great bunch here, very supportive! I too, want to express my sympathy on witnessing the loss of your Tuxie! How hard that must be! I am owned by Molly (14) and Betty and Wilma (Sisters, both 3, almost 4). That is Wilma in my avatar!

    Posted 2 years ago by mollycat71 #

  4. I did the family page by accident, (!) I really am rubbish at that sort of thing. Can anyone point Kaefie in the right direction?

Posted 2 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  5. Hi Mollycat! Thank you for the welcome and your words about Tux, much appreciated. I think about her everyday and hope she comes to visit me wherever she is now. Safe from cars :-) I went over to your catster page, how precious! I love that you're owned by Molly, Betty and Wilma, they're very lucky! I look forward to speaking with you here.

Hey MCW! I figured out the family page, there's a link to ask if you want to add to your family which was great - just need to work out how to link this to my avatar! Thanks for your help, I'm sure someone will know :-)

  6. All sorted! It was as suggested by you MCW - putting the catster link in my website profile, thanks x

  7. Kaefie...Hopper has been one of the hardest challenges anyone has seen. He was having his way with all the females in the neighborhood. Very smart guy he was before being captured. I care for 13 cats of various ages who were never found furever homes. All of them were either abandoned by owners who moved or brought in & dumped by stupid people that thought they would be safe. It took years to end the kitten mill here in our park, with Ms.Hissy & Hopper being the very last 2 to be caught & fixed.
And If it hadn't been for me finding TDK, with all the wonderful people offering so much support,I'm positive I wouldn't have made it thru. My TDK Family saved me emotionally & as well as helped me with several of my furbabies. They've helped me thru some unbearable times that could've ended deadly for me had they not been there. I'm Blessed to have found them. And so Grateful to the Kittenmaster for starting this site.
As others have said...Welcome to the greatest place on the internet! An Animal Lover's Paradise.

  8. I just read your catster posting of your horrific experience of seeing Tuxy's accident and tears are streaming down my face. You Tuxy looks just like my Sylvester (except smaller). RIP sweet little cat and take comfort that you and your Momma will see each other again when it is time. Many consoling hugs to you Kaefie.

  9. Welcome to TDK, Kaefie! Glad to know that Babs is doing good after her encounter with the lillies! I'm so sorry about the awful death of your Tuxy. His memorial site is beautiful.

My avatar is MacKenzie in his Daily Kitten pic; he's much older now ;-) Grommet is my other kitty, she was a Daily Kitten, too. I adopted them together on the same day. Click on my avatar to see their catster pages. We left a treat for Babs and sent a furrends invite! If you have any kitten pics of Babs and Tuxy, you should submit them to the KittenMaster for the Daily Kitten.

Both Mac and Grommie have harnesses and leashes, and they wear them when we travel, just in case. But, since both are indoor kitties, we don't go on walks around here. It's just too hot in San Antonio, and, I would worry about them getting fleas or some other 'outdoor' problems....

  10. Hi Kaefie and welcome to TDK. I am one of the New Zealand TDKers. My sister is Moonshadow (MS) - we live in different parts of NZ however. So sorry about Tuxie - that was awful for you. I have two cats - Dara is a bluepoint siamese and is 4 years old. Ringo is a tabby and is about 9 months old - he is the one in my avatar. They have Catster pages also if you want to see what Dara looks like. I'm sure you enjoy the TDK site - the Cafe and Nightshift threads are always good places to catch up with people. We really are one big family here.

  11. KK, I would sure love to see photos of Dara. I have a weak spot for blue pts. Misty is my third. Blues are bliss!

  12. Hi Kaefi, welcome to TDK. I'm Kapitikats(KK) sister. I'm so sorry about Tuxy's passing over the Bridge and the way it happened. That must have been so difficult for you. I'm owned by a black dappled Tortie called Moonshadow (and various other names). She's the grumpy one in my avatar but it's just her face marking that make her look grumpy. There are 3 and a half Kiwis on here, the half being my daughter Airy in California.

  13. Hi, Kaefi, welcome to TDK, I'm the third Kiwi on TDK but no relation to the other two mad redheads... ;-) I have two cats, Jasper, who was a stray neighbourhood tom who decided to live in my garden (he's inside now -- most of the time) and Libs, a little feral kitten whom I scooped up and never let go. I am so sorry about Tuxy. We lost a darling cat called Tess, who was only a year old, to a car. It breaks your heart, doesn't it. This is a great site, with loads of great people, I'm sure you will enjoy it!

Posted 2 years ago by jcat #

  14. Who says we're redheads?. . . .no, wait, that should be who says we're mad?
We have lots of fun and 'meet' great people on TDK.

    Posted 2 years ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

  15. Tee hee, and sometimes we tease them too...

Posted 2 years ago by jcat #

  16. We've never met either . . .yet. But we have lots of fun.

  17. Hello all, wonderful to meet you and read your stories! Catster is cool too I've found :-)

Feral, what a lovely story about Hopper and sounds like you have a healthy growing and well needed sanctuary. I read many stories of people taking animals in and as well as being a genuinely good thing to do, I also think it's a brave thing to do because of the emotional roller coasters. Same as all the people here that make friends with animals, thinking you may lose them sometime is saddening, but we all help to weigh the balance of the people that don't know how to respect our animal friends.

Sylvester and Mia's mom - aww man.. Vester does look so much like Tuxy but bigger as you rightly said. I looove the videos on your page!! Thank you for your message, I appreciate you read it. Feral is right it, this place does ease the pain with understanding people around.

KittyMom! Glad to meet you here and the family on catster. I showed Babs last night, hehe, MacKenzie has a Babbishness about her when she was a kitten, adorable! I didn't know that you could submit old pics - but it makes sense a kitten pic is a kitten pic, I'll have a look through the fur archive. Just got the large puppia harness in today - bit big for Miss Babs even though it took her measurements! Swapping it for a medium and fingers crossed!

Hi KK! Thank you for the welcome, I just had a look at Dara, Spike - bless him, and Ringo. Tux's favourite thing of all time was eating also :-) It was an awful accident, because it happened only two weeks ago it reels pretty raw, but you guys are helping lots, I look forward to seeing you and the family here and on catster!

Hiya Moonshadow's mom! Lovely to meet you and your sister, thank you for the mention and the words about Tux. As I mentioned to KK, the horror is beginning to lesson. Just remembered actually, last night, (it's 14:30 as I post this) I heard the food bowl make a noise in the kitchen when Babs was with me - one or two things also happened which made me think she may have come back for a visit. I also think it was because I was thinking about her strongly yesterday whilst posting here and setting up catster. Moonshadow looks ever so sweet :-) - perfect name for her! How young is she? Do you have a catster page? I look forward to seeing Airy also!

Hey Jcat, thanks for the welcome! I'm sorry to hear about Tess, almost the same age as Tux was, yes it is utterly heartbreaking. I'm not sure the vets even understood, they didn't seem to anyway. It is a great site, yes, lots of people have helped a great deal and am looking forward to seeing everyones pics and stories. Thats lucky that Libs found you! One of those meant to be moments. I've not yet seen any feral kittens here in the UK personally, if I did I would also scoop them up and never let go!

I'm reading a great book you all may like called 'The Amazing Power of Animals' by Gordon Smith. Reading parts of that is emotional! So happy to so sad - for me, it's mainly reading how animals are so loyal to their owners and how they try and talk to us. I'm off to get a cuppa x

  18. Thanks for the friends request on catster!!!

  19. Adore the family - I love how Boo Boo is a mum but looks like a young kitty!

Posted 2 years ago by Kaefie #

  20. Hi Kaefie! Welcome aboard the kitty train! Ours is a large, loving, diverse collection of sweet, inventive, humorous and very intelligent people. No question too small or too big.....we seem to have them all covered here. I have 4 kits here in Oregon, USA and they are all sibblings and just turned 2 yrs. a few months ago. One of them is a tuxy like the one you just lost...I'm so sorry to hear of your sweet Tuxy. ((((Kaefie)))) I'm sure it's hard on you and on Babs as well. Mine are indoor/outdoor cats but we live in a small country town which makes it somewhat safer for them to wander. I still worry for them as you just never know when something can go wrong. Glad to hear you've discovered the perils of lillies and hope that Babs will be no worse for wear. =)

Posted 2 years ago by Karenopa #

  21. Hi Karenopa! Thank you for the warm welcome! Oh how lovely that they are all siblings and I know what you mean about Tuxy-Sugarfoot. Thank you for mentioning Tuxy, I can see why this forum is so popular, there is alot of support which has been well received :-) Luckily Babs seems to have pulled through Lily Gate fine :-) I'll not be having those pesky lillies in the house again! They were one of my favourite flowers. I hear roses are still safe, so that's a relief!

I look forward to chatting with you soon, also see you on catster x

Posted 2 years ago by Kaefie #

  22. Kaefie, you're quite safe to have lilies in the house again provided you cut out the stamen bit in the middle (y'know, the bit that if it crumbles is sheer hell to get out of your clothes!). That's the poisonous bit.

Posted 2 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  23. Hey MCW! Yes I have been told that, but then I read another article saying that all parts are dangerous but not as dangerous as the stamen. Also there was a huge list of flowers that cats are adverse to! I thought wow, outdoor cats must have immune systems of steel - there are all sorts of flowers everywhere! Hows the family today?

Posted 2 years ago by Kaefie #

  24. I just read Tuxy's story on Catster and the tears are streaming down....How beautiful she was, and Babs, too! They look like they were very close, how sad. Sending HUGS your way!

  25. Hi there Kaefie, another Brit TDKer here. Welcome to the site. I'm PMUK, Polly (for whom I am named) is no longer with us, my avatar is Garbo and I also have her sister, Hepburn - a black cat.

    Posted 2 years ago by Pollys_Mum_in_UK_2605 #

  26. Dear Katthays, thank you :-) posting it yesterday when I joined catser was quite hard, I do miss her lots and wanted to make a page for her because she's alive and beautiful to me in my memories - and I hope she visits too! {{Hugs}} back. How are you, gorgeous Gizmo and Wisconsin today?

Hi there PMUK! Lovely to meet you. I'm terribly sorry that Polly in no longer with you (on the earth) - I see from Catster that it was this year? How awful for you. My Tuxy passed 8 July and it seems like yesterday still. Oh I just saw a pic of Suki, a little Tuxy cat also, bless her. Garbo and Hepburn are beauties. Were Polly and Suki related?

Posted 2 years ago by Kaefie #

  27. Oooh, didn't know that Kaefie, thanks for passing that on. You learn a little something...! All well here, Eric just came hurtling in through the cat flap at a zilion miles an hour, screaming blue murder...yep, it'd started raining. He's a wuss!! How is Babs today? Does she still look for Tuxy, or is she OK?

Posted 2 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  28. Yes it was raining quite heavily here an hour ago, must have moved further along by now! Bless him, at least he's home and dry :-)

I think she's ok - she definitly had/has her moments. The day Tux died, when i got home, exhausted and grief stricken from the vets, her head popped up from the sofa, we looked at each other silently - for ages, then she wandered off to my bedroom to Tuxy's 'bed' and uncharacteristically slept for 4 hours, and was very very quiet. She cuddled me more than usual.

Now, she's fine - but I know she misses her terribly. We had an odd one yesterday - I actually heard the bowl rattle in the kitchen and a noise in the litter tray (Babs was with me) we both did the 'look' at each other - she gave me a very human 'did you just hear that?' look. Then she followed and sniffed something in the room.. I hope it was Tux, I talk to them both aloud, just in case, you know? x

Posted 2 years ago by Kaefie #

  29. I know {{hugs}}

I hope I'm not suggesting anything you haven't already thought of, but if you don't want to stay a one cat household for very long, you'd be better getting Babs a new friend sooner rather than later, before she gets too used to be an *only child* and doesn't want to share you! Nothing will EVER replace Tuxy, but you would be able to love another cat as much, just not in the same way.

Posted 2 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  30. Hi and welcome to TDK, Kaefie. Oliver and Sammy are in my avatar. It is best to always talk to your cat. That's the only way I learn things! They have catster pages too! Now I am off to see your catster page. Ciao!
