Licking and Kneading

(5 posts)
  1. What does this mean, exactly? Both Lucy(fur) and Mitzi are very cuddly a lot of the time, but Mitzi does a lot more of the licking than Lucy. Is she "grooming" us? Also, when she does this, she kneads her little paws and licks on whatever part of our body while she's licking us in between her paws. I've only had one cat before this and he never did that. It's very affectionate, I'm just curious as to why she would do this. They are four month old sisters.

  2. It's another thing that some cats do and some don't Rhindon! One of our's, Pickle, is an ardent face/whatever bit of the body is closest washer, but doesn't really do the kneading thing, whilst another, Eric, wouldn't lick you if you were covered in cat food (ok, maybe if it was tuna!), but will knead and stamp like crazy!!

  3. ..... they are "bonding" with you, showing their love..... baby kittens "knead" their momma's tummy while nursing... it's comforting, and helps the milk to flow....they typically purr while doing this too!.....

.... they have accepted you as their new "momma".... congradulations!

we call it "making biscuts"...., a "kitty massage"....., many cute names for it!

  4. Babs does (and Tux used to) knead this faux fur bed cover I have whilst purring loudly, eyes half closed :-) I'm told it resembles the mummy tummy like Abbi says x

  5. She does purr pretty loudly when she does this. That's very sweet that she's doing that, so I am quite pleased she's so content with us.They both seem to really want to hang out with me (or my daughter when she's home) if they're not playing really hard or eating.

Mitzi (the one who does the kneading) gets very vocal if she and her sister are separated whereas Lucy doesn't seem to mind it too much at first.
