We just got back from the Vet, and he is doing fine. She gave him the once-over, put some flea med on him and de-wormed him. Also gave him some antibiotics for his scratches. She said he is in really good shape for being gone 5 weeks! As soon as I let him out of the carrier, ZOOM back upstairs and under the bed. BTW, the other cats aren't treating him too nice, still growling and hissing. So he comes to me for petting and reassurance (a good thing!) Hopefully in the next few days things will settle down.

Once he smells thoroughly of you again the others will go back to being nice. They are hissy mostly because he smells different. Of course, he smells of the vet too now .....

Happy to hear that Hoover's outdoor excursion didn't get him into any serious trouble. Time for mom to sit down with a glass of wine and relax. Whew! What an ordeal, eh? I'm sure the cats will all settle down but maybe a good dose of feliway could be helpful in calming all them down some. =)

Poor Hoover-feeling ostracized? Bet he will soon be accepted again, as soon as the nasty vet smell is gone and all those strange outside aromas. Has Truman begun to come around? You said they were both in the cat tree the other day?

I would wipe him with something of yours that you have worn and has your smell on it. Glad he is none the worse for wear---seems YOU took the brunt of it!

Glad he is okay. I am sure once the outside and the vet smells disappear things will be back to normal. It's nice that he comes to Momma for some love.

.... I was interested about wipes.... on another thread (brain freeze here) ....someone talked about Feliway wipes..... that would be great!..... like GD said, wipe them all, then they will all smell the same!.....
.... If I can find them, maybe the Feliway wipes would help Cuddles and Abby.... even after 4 yrs, Cuddles can't get within 2 feet of Abby without hissing..... do ya think she's jealous?.......DIVA!

Speaking of Feliway wipes.... XBF brought me my mail the other day and I had a package I didn't recall ordering. I opened it - it was from a pet company - and I got a box of feliway wipes. The envelope was addressed to me, but I never ordered this and there was no invoice in the envelope. Weird, huh?

AV - I just checked the Drs Foster Smith website. They have Feliway wipes on sale - you only get 5 wipes to a pack - reg $9.99 on sale for $7.49. I don't think it would be worth it do you?

Jadete...so glad the vet gave Hoover the thumbs up. It's amazing how just 5 wks.(it was long for you,but not long enuf for Hoover) can completely change the way a cat thinks. I really think that cats are born feral & just learn,or are forced to adjust to indoors & humans. When I say forced,I mean that if you put any indoor-born kitty outside, they automatically adjust to outdoors. It takes alot longer the other way around.
I'm sure tho that Hoover will eventually be destracted enuf w/play inside to accept it again. They always think it's greener on the other side.

Jadete, wonderful news that Hoover passed inspection at the vet's!! I agree with the others here, it's his smell that is bothering the kitties; once he gets his "good old Hoover" smell back, all will be well and back to normal (pre-outside-adventures) in your house.

Glad Hoover is ok, and passed his vet visit. Wishing you and him a peaceful night. Watch the door!! Love Mama Lynn

I do not know how I missed this news!!! Hoover is home????!!!!!!! Jeez, you go away for a few days and miss the most important stuff!! I am THRILLED for you Jadete! After all you've been through - you must be a happy happy girl! And Feral, congratulations on another victory for the lucky trap! I was actually wondering about Hoover, and searched back through the threads to check the news before posting an enquiry about him! YAAAAAYY!!

I never found Feliway to be the least bit useful. It is expensive too. I wouldn't recommend it but, am I right in thinking that some of you have had success with it?
As far as wiping Hoover with mama's scent, that isn't a bad idea but I wonder if it wouldn't work to rub him down with the other cat's scent? I mean, if they sleep regularly on a towel or some such and Hoover smelled like them, that might work even better. Particularly, if they remember who it is who takes them to the vet and got them nipped in the bud .... I'm just sayin'.

Well, its been a few days and things are settling down. Everyone is getting along, but I do hear a growl every once in a while. I put a brand new collar on Hoover and it only took him 5 days to get it off. I guess he likes running around "nekked". I call him "Nekked Boy".
