Yesterday I came home to find little Bella with a pea size lump on her head ! Its right in between her ears and makes her fur stand up! She doesn't seem to mind me messing with it, but it still has me worried ! Any ideas as to what it could be?? She was with her kitten sitter and I know he is more interested in playing video games than watching the kittens, there are four of them and they are about 2 months old. Could she have just bumped her head and now has a bump like a little kid or is this something that I should be super stressed about?!

Are you able to see any breaks in Bella's skin at the site of the lump? She may have been bitten or scratched by one of the other kittens. Cat bites can abscess. She might also be reacting to some sort of bug bite. Did the kitten's sitter report anything unusual happening that could explain this injury?
If you haven't taken these youngsters in to see a vet, you might want to do that now just to get some reassurance. Since you are fostering these kittens for a shelter, it probably has a vet that they refer their animals to at no charge to the foster mom.

They have been in to the vet and had their first round of shots. The sitter didn't say anything, I noticed it when I was snuggling her when I got home from school/work. It doesn't look like there is a bite mark, but she has Bengal type markings and thick fur so you really cant see a lot. She doesn't care if I mess with it and of the bunch she is the biggest prima donna so if she was unhappy I would know about it ! LOL
Excuse the analogy but its like a pimple under her skin/fur. I have never seen anything like it, I guess we have a vet trip in our intimidate future !Posted 2 years ago by spanky_mouse #

I would get it checked out, just to be sure she is OK. Don't worry about talking about "gross" things. You won't believe how excited we get around here about such things as kittens pooping! lol

My Fluffy (RIP) had an abscess on her cheek and there was no bite marks on it, she had a big bump on her face the poor thing, she came back from the vet with her side from the face shaved. The doctor said if I didn't bring her in on time it could have burst open or get in to her blood stream and die.
She didn't seem to be in pain either when I touched it, or have any discomfort at all, she played with her sister and her behaviour was normal. -
Just to report back some good news Bella is fine and her little bump is gone

They vet said it was most likely a war wound from her brothers and sisters but he told me to keep an eye on it. It went away on its own.
