  1. Hello!

I am a very proud foster mom to four little kittens - Bella, Confucius(Foo Foo), Tommy Tiger and Mowgli. I have had them since about two weeks old, they were turned into a rescue the day I was in to adopt. I knew when the moment that I saw there little faces that I was going to try my best at being their kitty mom! From bottle feeding to kitten sitters, its been a crazy ride but it is so worth it to come home to four little purring faces that love you just as much as you love them!

I am excited about this site and how you all can answer some of my questions and I will do my best to help with yours!

    Thanks
    Kristen aka Spanky

  2. Bless you for taking in these kittens. What a lot of work they must be!!! It sounds like they are thriving. They are lucky that you were willing to offer them a safe place to grow. They are repaying your kindness with kitten love. Please keep posting to let us know how they are doing.

We have cat lovers from all over the world here at TDK. We almost always start a thread called the Morning Cafe and then a Night Shift in the evening. People check in and out all day on either or both threads. Please join the merriment! :)

When you have a chance please post pictures of your kittens. You can create a free webpage for them on Catster.com. Click on my avatar to see photos of my three kits, Digit, Furl and Boots.

  3. Thank you for helping these babies. I fostered 3 babies last yr and although it is a lot of work, the joy is immeasurable. If you click on my avatar, Romeo was one of the 3 babies. Juliet and Montague are happy in wonderful homes, but I will miss them forever.

  4. Tigerlilly, you bring up a soft spot for me. We, my boyfriend and I have almost had the kittens for 2 months. They are getting big and will need to go back to the rescue place soon, very soon :( but we cant seem to decide what two to keep and we kind of feel like we are breaking apart their family and for that matter giving two of our kids back.
I dont think we have room for 4 cats but my heart says I cant give any of them back !! How did you handle it when you were a foster ?? This is our first go at being fosters so I/we didnt know we would become so completely attached, well who am I kidding you would have to be crazy not to LOVE kittens !!

  5. Hi Spanky and welcome to our family!

I've never fostered but I admire those who do greatly. Part of the reason I don't foster is the time commitment and also what you said, how would I give them back? I'd be overrun with kitties before I knew it!

Bless you and I hope to see you post often!

  6. Hi and welcome Spanky. Awww bless you for helping these babies. I give you credit, I couldn't foster. I would have to keep them all. I understand your dilemma about how do you give any up. Of course my hope is that somehow you can keep all 4 :)
I have 2 kitties, both tuxies, Fred and Cricket. Cricket is the one in my avatar when she was a baby. You can see my catster page if you click on her. I hope to see you more and hear about your babies!!!

  11. Ok so I am not so tech savvy ! How do I make the http://www.catster.com/family/860429 link to my picture like all of yours do?

    Posted 3 months ago by spanky_mouse #

  12. Hi Spanky, welcome to TDK! If you go into view your profile (top of the page) and then edit this information, you can cut and paste the web address into the URL box - then whenever anyone hovers the cursor over your avator, they'll get the link.

If that works, it may be the first time I've explained it successfully...!

I would never DARE foster, because I know I'd end up keeping all the kittens! That said, I have three cats, and I try every so often to convince my husband a fourth wouldn't take up that much extra room...so no helpful advice from me I'm afraid! :o)

  15. Welcome to our family Spanky! I know exactly how you're feeling about keeping two kittens. We rescued a litter of 4 sibblings 2 yrs. ago and though we said we'd find them homes.........We fast became the proud servants of all 4. It's been interesting to say the least but since they're indoor/outdoor cats they come and go at intervals that some days makes me almost feel catless. Thank goodness they're all spayed and neutered! BTW.. I have a Catster page too so you can see my 4 babies if you'd like. Just click on the avatar. =D

  18. Your Catster pictures are just so cute - you really captured the personality of kittens.

There's no way I would give up any of them. Speaking from personal experience I think four kittens is an excellent number to have.

  20. Hi, Spanky, bless you for fostering, it IS blimmin' hard to give them back, I can tell you what happened with me and the girls I know at the shelter, what happens is that you fill up your home with foster kittens you can't give back until there really IS no more room at home and the kitties you already have let it be known that they really don't want any more annoying little kids around, lol... So then you know you have to give them back from the start and it gets a leetle bit easier but not much, and you get used to crying buckets when they go and wondering how they're doing... And you never forget them but you know they will have a lovely home where they will be the centre of love and attention and they will be able to clamber into someone's lap whenever they want to, which is not always the case when you have multiple kitties and not enough hoomins in the house. And there will always be more babies needing fostering... so you do always need to keep a bit of room aside...
