   Well I have rat named Tinker bell and she has a tumor my dad says that we are going to have to take her into the vets office and get her put down before she starts suffering. Anyway this is my sisters rat and shes going to take this harder then anyone in the family. Finances are the other problem. Me and my mom have two dr. appointments my mom has one today she most likely need a prescription, i have one today but i wont need a prescription, then my mom has another one some other time. If we have all this my parents will be stressed all too much.

   Do you have any ways i can try to make my sister and my parents happy?

   That's so sweet of you to want to help your family, but in this case you might have to let things play out for themselves. We can't 'make' anyone happy, it comes from within each person.

   You can have a happy -influence- on them by being positive and supportive and understanding. All living creatures die, this is a normal chain of events. Of course we're not happy when someone close to us dies, we are human and sadness is a deep human emotion.

   Many vets will offer a payment plan, it never hurts to ask.

   Whew! Now that is a tall order.

   MOMMAOFABBY no one can stave off grief and this is an economically stressful time for most of us.

   If Tinkerbell must be euthanized, all you can do is be supportive of your sister. Help your sister with a memorial. We speak of our Cats waiting for us accross a Rainbow Bridge, young and healthy again. Well, it is for all our pets. There are our birds, and rodents, and reptiles and whatever holds a special place in our hearts.

   By showing maturity and compassion you will help your parents deal with the economic stress as well.

   I didn't realize your father remarried already. I am so sorry you are having to go through finacial troubles after your Mom just died a little over a month ago. I am sure this loss will disturb your sister. You are not responsible for your parents happiness. Perhaps you need to speak to your father. Also you told us that your vet is a very good friend of your fathers. I believe that if your father needs help his friend the vet will be able to help you with a payment plan.
