This a.m. I started my car to go to work. I always wait a few seconds to make sure my cats aren't under the car and then roll slowly (in case they were too stupid to move at first) down the driveway. Well, this a.m. I started the car and was amazed to see a kitten ca. 10 or 11 weeks old shoot out from my driveway and across my neighbor's lawn at a speed I didn't know kittens were capable of. My neighbor's is the last house on the block, so when I turned the corner I looked for the kitten. It was on the sidewalk and starting to cross the street.
When it heard me coming, it took off at an incredible speed-- so much so that its back legs seemed to trip it and it fell on its side for a nano second before righting itself and taking off. What I am wondering is this, have you ever seen a kitten fall/trip itself while running? I am worried that it might be injured and, given its amazing degree of fear (I have never seen anything like it), I am concerned that I cannot get close enough to see and take to the vet if needed. If it is truly a feral kitten or lost, it might be hanging around my house because there is always food and water on the porch for my cats who will not come in.
