  1. While I was at lunch, my husband stopped by my work to tell me that Lily had thrown up. When I woke up this morning, I fed her as usual and she wouldn't eat, which is very odd for her because usually she is running up to me practically knocking me down for food...After work my husband informed me that she had thrown up two more times, but it was just like a white foamy substance...She is still not eating, she has been sleeping a lot, and just not her usual self...I will be taking her to the vet for sure in the morning, if I can find one that is open in this small town...she is about 4 months old...ghas this happened to anyone? I am soooo worried....we lost a kitten two months ago and I dont know what I would do if we lost another baby...

  2. She really needs to be evaluated by a vet. Prayers that you have a peaceful night and find a vet first thing.

  3. Try to keep her hydrated until you can get her to a vet, as vomiting can dehydrate cats. Give her small amounts of pedialyte (or gatorade, if you can't get pedialyte or water) as often as she will take them. Check out this site for the dehydration test: http://www.kittenrescue.org/pages.php?pageid=15

  5. Liquid is more important than food when she is vomiting. Has she had anything to drink?

  6. Also, you might want to remove any plants or things you think she might have chewed on. Make sure that all cleaning products, etc are locked away too.

  7. she wont drink either....i went to walmart and got some kmr because I thought she might drink that but she just sniffs it and walks away....

  8. You might need to syringe some pedialyte down her. At that age, I would be worried about dehydration.

  9. Just got back from the vet...I woke up this morning and Lily was a little bit more interested in her food and water but still no eating or drinking...Took her to the vet....He said that she probably ate a bug, and bugs burn as they go down and burn little holes in the stomach lining...(My husband mentioned seeing bug parts in her vomit)...He gave her a couple of injections...one for nausea and one antibiotic i think....he gave us some antibiotic drops to give to her....poor lily...three shots in two weeks!!!!

  10. awww the poor little muffins, shes having rough couple weeks. Hopefully it was just a bug that she ate, I guess she will learn that bugs are not part of a healthly diet. I hope she feels better soon.

  11. The vet said she should have been eating and drinking by this afternoon...she still hasnt eaten or drank anything...i have her her antibiotics this evening...she hasnt thrown up today, and I havent seen any diarhea...im not sure what to do....

  12. Probably a return trip to the vet. If she is not eating or drinking she must go back to the vet. Dehydration is likely to happen if she will not drink and that is very serious in a cat. Perhaps you can get an eye dropper and feed her water or pedialyte. Hope that she gets better soon. Prayers of peace and comfort.

  13. Try some really stinky food -- fish or something -- other TDKers swear by chicken baby food -- with just chicken in it, no added ingredients (Gerbers? we don't have that brand here in NZ so I'm not sure, but any good brand should do). Warm her food gently in the microwave as this can help to make it more appetising. I wouldn't start worrying too much until tomorrow -- she may just take a little longer to feel like eating again -- but it would be good if she could drink something. Perhaps try some unflavoured yoghurt on your finger so she can lick it off? Poor little baby. Good luck!

Also I sometimes find that kittens suddenly start to eat something if they've had a really good play session and/or loving session.

  14. Gerbers is the brand that I have used. I agree--not so worried about food, but the no liquid part is scary.

  15. Well...I awoke this morning to no eating or drinking from Lily....There are no vets that are open on Sundays here, or in the nearest city over....I decided to fill an eye dropper and force several droppers of KMR/water mix in her mouth...it wasn't easy thats for sure....My husband and I just got back from walmart, where we purchased some gerber chicken baby food, i put some on a plate, and sure enough she lapped some down...not a lot, but more than she had eaten in the past few days....((does anyone know how much pedialyte to give her?)) she is only four months old...BTW, we are returning to the vet tomorrow, but she was getting a little bit lethargic, and I believe she might be getting dehydrated so this is just until tomorrow when we can get her in!!!

  16. More pedialyte and less food. Don't worry too much on the food end. It is so much more important that she not be dehydrated. Be careful then giving her the fluid, so that she swallows it and doesn't get it forced into her lungs. She is little so you should probably try every few hours to get some liquid in her. The pedialyte has the electrolytes that will help her get hydrated quickly. Prayers of healing to your poor kitty and prayers of strength and comfort to you.

  17. Sox's Mom is right, as much pedialyte as she will accept. I'm glad she took a little food too though, not only is it a good sign but it too has a little water in it.

Have you checked the website address I gave you for the dehydration 'tent' test? This will help you see if she is dehydrated, and help you gauge if she's getting enough water down her.

If water does accidentally go into her lungs and she starts choking, hold her upside down until she stops choking. I've never had to do it thank goodness, and it sounds very uncomfortable for poor kitty but it can save her life.

Best of luck, poor little girl, please keep us posted. And please keep trying to get her to drink.

  19. Good News!!! Lily ate a little more baby food...and after that she went for a drink, and drank quite a bit!....I did give her a syringe of pedialyte mixed with a little of the baby food for taste...she actually liked it a lot better than the medicine thats for sure!!!....we are still taking her to the vet though, because she wont eat her own food yet....thanks everyone for all of your help....TDK is definitely saving Lily's life....

  22. Well, my husband and I took Lily to the vet this morning....still no drinking or eating...She had no fever, no worms, she is not dehydrated but her gums are pale, and her white blood is low, which tells us that she does not have a bacterial infection, but some sort of virus. He told us that just like with a human, the virus has to run it's course...We decided to keep her there overnight so they can run fluids through her for 24 hours...I hope it makes her feel better....I'll keep you posted!

Posted 2 years ago by TwiztidAnimalLover #

  23. Poor little thing! I'm just catching up on this thread...sounds like she will be in good hands at the vet's...please keep us up-to-date on little Lily!!

  24. Giving her fluids should help alot; I hope she's much better by tomorrow. {{{TAL}}} and prayers for Lilly's complete recovery.

  25. I just called the vet to see how Lily was doing, they told me there hasn't been any improvement yet but it usually takes 24 hours before they see any changes....I hope so, otherwise I don't know what I am going to do...My husband and I have already spent 300 dollars on Lily this week, not saying that money matters, I would spend any kind of money on her if I had it, but we are out of money...I am so worried, what if this doesn't help? How will I be able to afford this?.... :( :( :(

Posted 2 years ago by TwiztidAnimalLover #

  26. Poor Lily.....I hope she returns home well on her way to feeling normal again. If your health costs continue to climb perhaps the vet (since you've already invested $300) will allow you to make some payments for the balance??? Sending prayers and kitty kisses to Lily that she feels great very soon. =)

  27. Sending lots of purrs and healing light to Lily, hoping she will soon start to improve. She is in good hands by the sound of it, and if it is a virus like they say, she will start to come out of it in the next 12 hours.

  28. Continued prayers that Lily's health will turn around now that she is at the vet. May the care she receives help her to heal and come home to you.

  29. Does anyone know if a kitty can get Feline Leukemia from the vaccine?...I know I am just sitting here thinking of all the horrible things that could be wrong with her...I have been researching up on FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus)....If things are not better by tomorrow, I am going to ask that they test her for both of these diseases...

Posted 2 years ago by TwiztidAnimalLover #

  30. Poor Lily, try not to worry too much until you know what's going on, it could just be a nasty virus like we hoomins get all the time. {{{HUGS}}}
