  2. Kittens don't poop every day. Kittens that young may only poop every other day or even every third day.

Are you feeding them Kitten Milk Replacement, not cow's milk? Cow's milk is very bad for cats, especially kittens. If you are giving them KMR, it might help to put just a little more water in it then the instructions say to use.

Another thing you need to do with small kittens is stimulate them to poop. Mama cat would be licking their little bums to get them to poop. Get a warm wet washcloth and mimic what mama cat would be doing. Don't rub their butts too hard, just firm but gentle like mama would.

Click on the pink 'Tags' in the upper right corner. Raising orphaned kittens is something that we have discussed many times on this forum. In addition to what some of us have found to work, there will be some links to websites that give detailed instructions on raising kittens.

Even if you don't think you can afford a vet, at least call a couple in the area, as well as any cat rescue organizations you can find. Someone may be able to come over and help you learn how to raise your kittens, or may be able to take the kittens home with them and foster them.

There are many people on this site who have raised kittens. Sunday is a slow day so be sure to check tomorrow.

If your kittens were healthy before they lost their mama, there's a really good chance you'll be able to raise them successfully. We are all here to help you.

P.S. I know you were in a hurry when you wrote your post so you probably didn't have time to proofread. But it's easier for us to understand what kind of help you need if it's clear. If the word you typed is underlined in red, you can right click over the word and fix it before you hit "Send Post".

  3. Another good tip, after they have had their KRM from a bottle, turn them so they have there back in your chest, hold their bum with one hand and rub their tummy with the other. They need help to burp just like a human baby does!

  4. Watch the demonstration video from the link in the discussion thread "Helping a kitten to eliminate." A TDK member made a video of taking her 3 week old kitten to the vet and how the vet properly stimulated the kitten to fully eliminate poo.

  10. Mara, I hope you don't mind me asking, but I'm guessing you're school age? I just want to check that your parent(s) know you're posting here, it's a good and safe site, but they should know where you are :o)

  11. Animals don't seem to care whether a baby is their own species. There are lots and lots of cases where one kind of animal adopts the babies of another species. It's almost always a beneficial arrangement for all concerned.

  15. Just got an adorable 6 wk old baby - feeding kmr eating well, plays, active - but no bowl movements in 2 days, so glad to find this forum - tried warm moist cotton ball to rub his little but, but nobody says how long to do this for - he is great but has a very round belly-

  16. I do it for about 5-10mins depending on how fast they decide to do their business.

  17. Welcome to TDK, TNM! Concats on your new addition! Is that Timmy in your avatar? Have you taken him to the vet for a checkup yet? The round belly could be because he's got worms; it's quite common for kittens. The vet can tell you for sure, and let you know if/when he should be dewormed....

  20. I had same question yesterday. My 4 week old waited 2 1/2 days before she pooped. I just kept putting her in litter box because the other one poops like 4 times a day. Rub belly. Also if you look up vca vet they give you coupon for free exam up to two pets. Or if that is not in your area google free exam vet and a lot of places might give free exams to new customers. If you have other cats you need to get a leaukema test and feliv before they go around them. Or call every vet around and explain situation maybe someone will help or maybe a shelter will help you. Don't give up.
