  1. A very sweet man died this afternoon. He became ill while on vacation to see his new wife's family. He went into the hospital and on Wednesday they didn't see much hope and it became a pain management until he died. I am thankful that this has happened before school. It is very difficult on students when they lose a teacher during the school year. It will be very hard--he has touched so many students and will be missed. His children are with him and have been with him for the past few days. Thankfully they were able to see him prior to the coma. My heart aches for his children.

  3. These things are hard to understand and harder to bear. I am so sorry Soxsmom - they say the good die young. Thinking of your colleague and his family and friends.

  4. Thank you. I don't know which is better. Death after a long drawn out illness or you feel bad go into the hospital and are gone a few days later. Praying for the repose of his soul and praying for the peace and comfort of the Lord to pour out upon his family and friends.

  5. How terrible. He couldn't have been very old if he was still teaching. Dying in your 70's or 80's is one thing. Dying any younger than that, and leaving a new wife behind - in addition to his children - just seems like such a waste.

  10. Thank you Emma. Please pray for his daughters--there seems to be turmoil. Daughters are bringing him back and expected to take him to their church for a funeral. New wife has informed them that his funeral will be at her church. She is Catholic, he has always been a member of the Baptist church. One of his daughters is extremely distraught. I am praying that they remember they all loved him and now isn't the time to fight.

  11. I hope they check his will before they make a decision; he might have stated a preference.

If not, there's absolutely no reason he couldn't have a service in one church and a memorial in another.

  20. SM, I'm so very sorry. These situations ARE very hard on the kiddos, I hope the school will bring in a grief counselor. My condolences to you. Losing a co-worker leaves a hole in your life.

  21. School hasn't started this year so I doubt they will bring in a counsilor. If he had died during the school year they would have. I know daughter's best friend had him as her science teacher. She wasn't particularly close to him, but she was upset. I used to sub for him before I was hired in. I know there are many kids that will miss him.

  27. Very sad. We once lost 4 staff members in one year; yes it's so hard on the kids (after that we changed the phone "snow chain" to the "emergency chain"). Prayers to this nice gentleman's family and I hope they can amicably resolve their differences at this terrible time.
