  1. These people have worked so hard for the last year and succeeded in making the shelter no-kill. The Animal Control Officer is being pressured to get the numbers down and he has said he is feeling weary about the endless number of pets coming to the shelter but as long as the numbers decrease regularly the AC will do everything in his power to not euth. There are wonderful adult cats and kittens who need out. Please look at the petfindner pictures. I can't imagine these healthy animals being killed for space. And if you are inclined please forward this info to every animal lover you know.

Here's an update regarding the current situation at the Shelby County Animal Shelter. Please forward to anyone looking for a new BFF!!

Subject: Shelbyville, KY: No Kill status in Shelbyville, KY is in serious jeopardy...HELP!!!

    My friends of rescue,

I know I have been doing this a lot lately, but, this weekend, only ONE dog left the shelter and more came in. James is rapidly approaching the point of no return. It has been more than one year since anyone has had to die because of space…don’t let the streak end this week. James is very good about not putting anyone down and putting animals everywhere if the animals are spoken for. They also have VERY temporary foster homes for animals committed to rescue.

The animals are begging for their lives…please don’t make them die…PLEASE! I know some of you are breed specific or cross posters such as myself, but, please look and forward on…the more cross posters the more rescues get a look.

ANIMALS WILL DIE WITHOUT OUR HELP!!! HURRY!!! TIME IS RUNNING OUT!!!

James’ contact info is below with the link to the website. If you see someone you want for next weekend and you don’t want to wait, you may email me or call me and I will get the info to James ASAP. I know we have 4 kittens moving to WI next Saturday, but nothing else in stone. I will be happy to set up transport for anyone who wants it.

Thank each and every one of you for all you do!

Don't buy while shelter dogs die!
Visit www.petfinder.com to see all the animals in need.

    National statistics:
Only 1 out of 10 dogs born ever get a home. Only 1 out of 12 cats born ever find a home. 800 dogs & cats are KILLED each HOUR in the U.S, because there are not enough homes for them.

Saving one animal may not change the world, but, it will surely change the world for that one animal

  4. CatFancier, Don't let distance stop you if you see an animal you connect with. The shelter is sending kittens to Wisconsin. That is probably more than 200 miles away from Kentucky. There are many ways to transport animals. They know the right way to do this at Shelby
Cheri, shelter cats are just cats that had the misfortune of ending up in shelters. They make great pets like you have found.
