  1. I've just gotten off the phone with the charming and helpful manager of Maudie's Hacienda on Brodie Lane in Austin. Our reservation is for 2 p.m. on Friday Sept. 11.

They won't be closing up for us, but we'll have a long, long table down the center of the restaurant by ourselves, and they don't have much of a crowd on mid-afternoon on Fridays anyway. They're excited to hear people are coming from everywhere to taste their yummy Tex-Mex.

  3. I'm ready!!!! Do they have sodium free Mexican food? :-)

  4. WWM, no, I don't think so, but we can all take extra potassium, drink lots of water and take some Lasix. Isn't that the same thing as eating a sodium-free meal, just doing it the hard way?

(They do have nice salads, with grilled chicken, etc.)

  9. nomnomnomnomnom - I'm relying on you guys to recommend me something that won't blow the back of my head off!!! (me & spicy foods don't really go together!)

  10. We'll take care of you. Tex-mex is spicy in a tasty way, not a burn your tongue way. Unless you add the" extra stuff" and I won't let you do that!

  11. Lisa, thanks so much for all the wonderful work and research with this trip. You are doing a magnificent job with herding all of us cats into Austin!

As for the venue menu: it looks absolutely fabulous with enough variety for everyone. Although I gained 5 pounds reading the first page, who cares? And the Special Enchiladas on page 2 sound addictive!
