  1. ...since I'm new here. :) So, I found this adorable site and decided to join. Seems like a place for someone like me. I just don't know where to start...

Well hello, my name is Suchi and I love cats. Right now I have one lovely five-year-old cat or should I say kitteh. I have been thinking about getting another one from a shelter. It breaks my heart to hear about people mistreating animals.

Hope to see everyone around. :)

I'm with you on the heart-break around abuse to animals issue - it's just about more than I can bear. 27. My name is Frances and I would like to share my story. I am new at this and not sure if I am on the right page. In Sept of 2007 my husband found 3 baby kittens around an old shed. They were no more than a day or two old. We had never had a cat, never wanted a cat, we were 100% dog lovers. These 3 baby kittens were covered in ants in 100 degree temp. Their eyes were not opened and they were so tiny. We never knew what happened to the mother cat. We took these babies home and cared for them. Everyone said they would never live because they were just to small. But they were wrong. We raised these babies and they grew to be beautiful cats. We named them Zeb, Gracie & Annabelle. We also had 3 dogs in the house but everyone got along fine. My husband and I both fell so in love with these cats and they in turn thought we were their mother. They came and went inside and out. We live in the country and have a big yard. They loved being outside but we always made sure they were not out after dark for safety reasons. And since it's been cold they always came right back in. Wednesday night we let Annabelle out and she didn't come back in the amount of time that was normal. We got out and started looking for her but she was no where to be found. I knew then it was bad because she never stayed gone that long. Early the next morning we were looking again but I knew it was to late. We found her in a field next to our property. She had been attacked by a larger animal. Needless to say we are heart broken. I can't stand to think of the fear she felt when she was attacked and knowing I was not there to save her is killing me. It was very cold that night and I can't help but wonder if we had found her maybe she could have made it. I wonder if she lay in the cold all night hurt but alive. This is breaking my heart and my husbands also. She was the sweetest little cat and so pleasant. She brought such joy to us and the 3 of them taught us how easy it is to love little cats. The other two seem to know something is wrong, I'm sure they miss her just like we do. She had such a hard start coming into this world and then left it in such a terrible way. But I know that the two years she was with us she knew she was loved. She was our baby. We miss you so much Annabelle. I am so sorry I didn't protect you from harm. If only I could turn back the clock I would never let you out. You will always be in our hearts.

  29. Frances. you have come to the right place. You will find the solace you need here. My deepest sympathies in the loss of Annabelle.

  30. Hi Frances. I am so sorry about the loss of Annabelle. I know it's hard but please, please try to focus on the life you gave her, as you said, she knew love in her little life, love and a life she may never have had if not for you and your husband. Try not to think on how she may or may not have perished or what she may have felt. Know that she is safe in the Meadow at the Rainbow Bridge. Are you familiar with that story?

Please stay here and grieve and share with us. Share with us about Annabelle and her siblings. They are grieving, too. Keep giving them love and reassurance.

It's very, very quiet around here on the weekends but I'm sure folks will post as they can. Perhaps you could do a brand new post, sort of an intro and retelling this story (cut and paste). You will find lots of support and caring and love here. I'm sad this is the way you found us but you are here now and I hope you will stay.
