Just had fish and chips and a glass of white wine. I think I might go to bed soon. Husband is watching Rush Hour for about the 93rd time.

I've had 2 bad experiences... one coming out of the Grand Canyon, it snowed and my tent collapsed under the heavey, wet snow, and water was all inside the tent. Spent the night in the bathroom - good thing they were permanent facilities! Beautiful hike out the next day. The other 'bad' experience was backpacking alone. Yeah, I know, that was not wise. Most of the trail was in the creek. I slipped, fell and had to crawl out of the water. Couldn't get enough purchase on the slippery rocks to stand up... and it was 105 that day.

Good evening, all, Tuesday's almost over!!!! :)
As upset as I was about Weird New Boss Guy being a lying jerk, I did have some good news yesterday.
I finally got around to taking my car into the mechanic my pet-sitting client had recommended. I dropped it off yesterday to have him replace the water pump the first mechanic had told me needed to be replaced. He called me last night and told me there's nothing wrong with my water pump!!!! He saw no reason for the other mechanic to tell me I needed a new one other than to cheat me out of money!
I told him to please do an oil change while he had the car anyway, so that saved me from taking it in on a weekend and waiting around. I picked it up today in my hour between jobs and he told me they checked again when he changed the oil and the water pump isn't leaking at all.
He only charged me for the oil change and even told me I can come back next week if I want and he'll check it again to reassure me. -
Nice to know there's still good guys out there GD!

Yep - I was surprised! Mechanic one told me it would be $670.00, this second guy had told my pet-sitting friend he'd charge $400 and take installments. I know which mechanic I'll go with in the future!
He did tell me I need new tires - yuck!! That'll have to wait a bit!

drumroll please........test results are in! They found "an area of abnormality within the thyroid" whatever that means. I have to see another doctor now YAY! I also have to finish the other tests I missed yesterday. ICKY

Oh MC... it just keeps raining on your parade! I hope whatever the 'abnormality' is, that it is small and easily fixable.
Katthays - as awful as those 2 trips sound, there was really a great deal of good inside them. Lots learned about myself and my abilities.... and my stubbornness !

I know, its pouring! Poor FF broke his tooth while he was here and had to go to an emergency dental appt! I am just not GOOD luck!

GD.... I am so glad you got a second opinion....... It is so frustrating with car repairs....and who to trust. I did not want to butt in, but, some of your previous repairs were way out of line, cost wise. I know I have fallen for the unnecessary/over priced repairs myself. IMHO, a woman bringing a car in for repairs, is "fair game". My husband has witnessed such unscrupulous tactics, while waiting for an oil change. All the women were "hit" up for extras.....which were more than likely not even needed. Hopefully this new mechanic will be fair and trustworthy, on any future repairs... sounds promising.

Camping, my idea of camping is a quality hotel with nice sheets, wonderful room service, comfy bathroom......I did my share of outside camping during 20 years in the Army, GP Mediums and such will never be part of my life again :)
GD, glad you found a decent mechanic! But if he told you that you need tires, you need tires! Driving on bald or close to that is not a good thing, sorry have had too many friends in accidents due to tires needing to be replaced and they thought it could be put off until later. Off my soap box now.....
