within the last week alone here in Scotland! There have been reports about (mostly black) big cats in the UK for a long time now. Can someone who has owned a dog maybe watch the video in the first link and let me know if it moves like a dog? To me it certainly looks feline but then I've never had much to do with dogs. Interesting stuff, maybe finally getting close to proper proof and acceptance of this.

  2. Hi Metsa!.... Actually, they move just like our smaller felines - very graceful and agile!....... Here in Fla. and in NC we have many "big cats" - the florida panther, cougars, mountain lions, bobcats - in Tampa, there is actually a "big cat rescue" that is a lovely place where they specifically rescue "big cats" and give them a nice, safe environment to live in!....

this is their website - they are truly beautiful!

  3. There have been loads of reports for years of large black cats living in the west country. It's fairly well documented, I don't think there's any real doubt that there are big cats living wild in UK.

  4. Thanks for the link AV!

Yeh, I'm with you PM, I've even seen one and collected prints in our fields. But the official view is still usually that there isn't. I think as the proof grows they'll (by which I mean officals) have to agree they are there. What do you think they'd say about them if they accepted them? Protect them legally or ignore them, or try to trap them? I'm surprised none have been killed on the roads or shot for bothering sheep yet.

  5. Who says they haven't been. Can you imagine a farmer admitting he has shot a panther in this country? There would be a huge outcry. Farmers are far too canny for that. While the big cats are denied by the authorities they can be shot with impunity.

  7. I've had lots of experience with dogs and this black creature is definitely not a dog. The long tail alone says it's feline. Very interesting but wouldn't surprise me a bit in this day and age of people taking on exotic pets and then turning them loose....that you'd end up with some of them there in Scotland. Thanks Metsa...this was exciting to see. =)

  8. There was an article about a very large cat ?breed? that can be domesticated
in the Cat Fancy Magazine awhile ago. Said it was the size of a large dog with similar canine traits as in training etc. The name of breed currently
evades me...must be a Boomer Brain moment!
