I agree with you whole heartedly, Kay. They people on this site are the most caring, kindhearted, thoughtful people I have ever met.

Kay and Kurt, I didn't know of your situation with your baby til recently. Please accept my condolences on the loss of your baby. We do what we can for friends, and now you are amongst us. You have our comfort and love and whatever we can do to help, we shall do so. I, as well as others, will donate to help pay the bill for your Parfait. Know that I hold you in my prayers and wish you comfort and peace. Much love, Mama Lynn

Kay, I, too, just caught up with this thread; I am devastated to hear that sweet Parfait did not make it. I know how much you and Kurt must be grieving for her right now. I lit a candle for her here: http://www.gratefulness.org/candles/message.cfm?l=eng&cid=8866264
And, once the information is posted, I, too, will send a donation to help you with her vet bill. Cuddle Eggnog too, as he must sense that Parfait has crossed the Rainbow Bridge now. {{{Kay and Kurt}}}

Thank you Cathi, Lynn and KM.
It's hard...but we are trying to be here for each other.
The vet gave us a heart shaped clay imprint with Parfait's pawprint in it today, it was decorated with pink and purple edging and her name imprinted in it as well and painted. I'm glad we have something, however small, to remember her by.

When the time is right, Parfait will send you another kitten. She'll let you know. It may be soon, it could be later. You had a place in your heart that poured love out to Parfait. It's bruised now but it will heal and your hearts will keep producing love.

Thank you CBM. I think you're right.
And just an update, Brianna, the amazing woman that's handling our financing at the vet office, who was gone yesterday because she hurt her back. She said she'll be returning phone calls this afternoon.

I too would like to help with what I can. Many of us here know the heartbreak that you are feeling right now. I also understand how it can be much harder on the men who feel obligated to fix things that are broken, and when it is beyond their ability they take it very hard. Hopefully when the time is right, you will fill an empty spot in your hearts with another kitten who needs a family. I know that when we lost our Mr.Bug, it was only a week later when someone asked me if I could give a home to a little kitten. Blackbeard (my avatar) did an amazing job of helping to heal the hurt. Although no kitty could ever take Mr.Bugs place in my heart a kitten does bring a certain joy into a home. For now Eggnog will give you comfort.

Please hold off on sending payments. I just got off the phone with Brianna, the account manager at Winter Park Veterinary Hospital. CareCredit is offering a 13.9% interest rate payable over 48 months for amounts over $2,000.00. Parfait's bill is just over that amount. If it is less $2,000.00, the interest rate jumps to 29%. The account manager is going to call Kay and Kurt to see if they want to go ahead with CareCredit. If so, we can then set up a chip-in page for Kay and Kurt to use to pay down the loan. I asked her to have Kay call me so we can proceed in the way she and Kurt would like us to.

Well I just got off the phone with KW and let her know that I informed Brianna to go ahead with the Care Credit to save us losing the lower APR.
The total bill is $2148.00. We're actually glad it went just over the $2000 mark so that we could get the lower rate, and are able to pay it off over a longer period of time.
KW suggested I check out the chipin site and make a chipin page. I've never had any experience with it, but I'll see if I can manage figuring it out.
Thank you all so much. And thank you again KW.

I just spoke to Kaylyn. She and Kurtis have decided to go with CareCredit for the whole bill so they don't lose the better interest rate. I asked her to create a chip-in page for the amount of the bill (to include the $300.00 they paid in at the beginning). The total will be $2,448.00. Each of us can contribute what we are able to help pay down this loan.
It seems that even more expense is being visited on them because Parfait's big brother, Eggnog, is now showing symptoms of having a URI, likely contracted from his exposure to Parfait. They will be taking Eggnog to the vet today or tomorrow.
(You beat me to posting, Kaylyn! :)

Kaylyn and Kurt, I am so sorry about Parfait. I cry when I read and think about that precious baby. I hope we can help you shoulder some of the expenses. Sending you hugs and prayers. Scritches to Eggnog and I hope he is okay! Please keep us posted.

I am so glad the vet gave you that memento of your baby. I have Missy's pawprint also--I took it after she died before I brought her in for cremation. I had a kit saved for each cat, just in case. I look at it from time to time and it brings me comfort--I feel close to her.

Thank you CM and SM for your prayers. Eggnog just started sneezing a day or so ago, and hopefully it'll clear up with antibiotics and everything, or at least help him feel better while the virus runs its course. We have a vet appointment for tomorrow, so fingers crossed that he's fine. I can't imagine something happening to Eggnog, not after everything we just went through with Parfait.
I'm in the process of setting up the chipin page, I need Kurt to get home from school, he should be here any minute, so he can help me with part of the bank account info I need to set up the paypal account that chipin needs to have access to.
I'm not sure what I should put for the "I want to raise" and "I need it by ___ date" though. Should I just leave the amount blank, seeing as Kurt and I have no expectations from you all as to how much or how little you are able to contribute. Your thoughts and prayers have already been so amazing, we really don't expect much financially. However little you are able to help is all the kindness in the world.
So Kurt should be home soon and I'll get that set up. Thank you all so much, a million times over.

I think you should put the amount in ($2,448.00). We may not be able to give that much, but it is something to shoot for. If there is a way to set the "I need it by" date out a ways, that would help.

And you know, like many I can't contribute as much as I would want to, however, I have lots of friends who loves kitties and I know they would contribute, too!
So sweet that you have that memento of your baby.
White light for Eggnog, too.
Continued thougts and prayers for both you and Kurt.
Bless you both.

Wow, you guys have been busy! KW thank you SO much for steering this, I owe you a drink in Austin! My thread and you end up doing all the work - what a star you are!
Kay, thank you for your email earlier, I will reply, but it may well be tomorrow. I'm sorry to hear Eggnog's now under the weather, but at least he's older and stronger, I'm sure the antibiotics will do the trick.
I'd put a 2 or 3 month time span on the chip in page, as some people may like to do a few smaller donations rather than one hit, and others may not have funds this month, but might in the next couple.
Love & hugs to you both :o) And scritches to Eggnog!

Great idea, MCW! Times are hard right now but I do have a three pay month in October and that would give me a bit more breathing room for "extra" things in my budget.

...might be an idea to start a new thread for the chip in page too, so the link to the page is at the top & easy to find.

Thank you all again...so much. I am brought to tears nearly every time I check back here at TDK and see the all the generous words written by all of you. It means the world to me.
And thanks for the idea MCW, I did post it in a new thread.

And we're off and running! Well done Kay, the page works perfectly. Nothing will ease the pain you and Kurt are going through right now, not in the short term anyway, but I'm glad you're getting the comfort and support you need from TDK. This is the best and fluffiest and kindest site on the internet!

Oh no! I hope Eggnog gets better soon! {{{hugs}}}
I'm glad you got the lower interest rate! That helps a lot. I will save your chip-in page to my favorites... I'm one of those people who would rather do smaller donations.

Thank you Cathi and KM for your well wishes for Eggnog. He appreciates them. He isn't drinking right now, but he's still chowing down on AD so that's good at least.
And thank you all soooooo soooo soooo much for your contributions. Truly, every penny is appreciated more than you could imagine.
