  1. heya all....just dropping a note to let anyone who may wonder how things are going know that i'm doing ok! despite a few nutter moments such as my own stalker, which i'd love advice on so please email me privately for the lowdown on the story because i get scolded about posting it here (you can find it on the tdk mailing list, and if you don't belong to it, you're welcome to ask another member, but please make sure u let me know who you are when you email me and that u r from the gang here.).....

i had that little fear of going back to driving - it's going pretty well, believe it or not. im doing better now than i did the first time i drove. it really was the fact that the beetle is just perfect for me to drive. i hooked my ipod and have my fav indian music playlist go on it.

a friend from college and i went our own ways. she was a nice person, but didn't quite have all the lettuce in her salad bowl. and one day she says to me she was dissapointed because i used some of my mum's money to get soem things for both mum and me at a thrift shop. this came from a person who was proud to say that she has stolen things from that thrift shop in the past. i told her as politely as i could that it was none of her bsuiness, and that my mother knew what i was doing, and it was our own concerns. if this bothered her so much then we didn't need to continue our friendship. it's ok anyway because everytime she wanted to get together, she wanted me to meet with her and some person who i don't know who was really off their rocker. and i had to keep politely dodging her so i'd not hurt her.

anyway, as for mum...she's doing ok at the nursing home. she's getting decent treatment, and is accepting of it. she's been fearful of some things like one of the treatments, and diapers, but is overcoming them once she tries them. i got to meet with a shrink last week, and will meet with him again this week perhaps to discuss her issues, and we will see what they can do. i wake up very early and come to make sure she gets herself up and ready for her occupational and physical therapies. even my volunteer heart has not left me. one of the therapists has been extremely greatful because one of the newer patients spends alot of time being confused and upset. last week, i lent a hand when he was trying to help her find a phone number with no sucess. i sued my iphone to google a local market that could come up with the name of the bank she was looking for. it worked, and it helped her out. she is still very fragile, but the therapists notice i seem to have a gentle way with her. so i come for mum, and wind up helping out alot of people, and it makes me feel good. i'm also busy running errands often, and do her laundry because they lost a couple of her clothes the first time the washed them. so anyway, love u all....

i also found some really cool lipsticks on clearance at rite aid. and massaging slippers, which i had to snap up because my feet have been really sore as of lately. the lipsticks r sally hansen stuff...they r really thick lipglosses, for under 3 bucks. and one signature lipstick - aishwarya rai - for under 5. ash rai is an indian actress...though not my favourite, she's cool, and i was so hepped to see her name on lisptick here. so that will be a collector item, and im sure my husband will laugh over my find!

  2. Hello. I'm new here. I'm not sure if it's ok for me to reply to this.. Maybe you guys have some sort of an insiders gang here.. Sorry if I'm intruding. Well, anyhow, I am terrified of driving again too. I won't drive unless I absolutely have to.

Good to hear that your mom is doing ok. You seem like such a generous person. Helping everyone out.

Where can you find such finds? I always find cosmetics so expensive.

All the best. Hope to see you around.

  3. Nirmal it's great to hear that your Mum is settling into the nursing home and being treated well there. It can be very confusing for older people when they first move into nursing homes but you are obviously helping lots and getting her through that. I'm pleased to see that you are enjoying driving again, well done. Maybe you have found something that really suits you in volunteering and helping out at the nursing home. Nice find on the lip sticks. I got some today also though sadly not as reasonably priced as yours were.

  4. Hi Nirmal! It's great that you can be there so frequently to help your mom thru the transition to the nursing home. Glad to hear you're trying to get back behind the wheel again ;-)

  5. Hi, Nirmal, good to see you again. It's been a couple of weeks, I think.

Suchi, it's always okay to contribute to a thread - that's what they are for. So far as an insiders gang goes, we kind of do have one. We all have a deep love for all things kitty inside of us. As long as you love kitties too, you have the right insides to be in our gang.

  6. hey suchi! i felt like an outsider once too. butwelcome! ah, just jump right in...you're part of us. you'll be an isnider in no time! i try to be gnerous whenever possible. i feel guding and inspiring and giving urself selflessly for others as much as possible, as honestly as possible, and having morals is the key to all that is true and good and beautiful. so i try to live by it.
anyway...about the makeup...these were clearance at the drug store. BUT you can go to eyeslipsface.com and get makeups for 1-3 bucks each. shipping is like 5 bucks but u can combine stuff for that. u dont have to pay shipping for each thing. as for the driving bit, just start off slow. the last thing i drove was a big van. i wasnt sure if it had been my driving or the van itself which had some serious issues that caused a few accidents. now i know it was the van n not me. you gotta ease urself into it again, just like evrything. and start on backstreets if possible. don't just go right out onto a highway thinking you'll be cured.

heyy rest of the gang! yea her stay is temporary, and at the end of the day i feel like i just came back from a full time job...but it does feel good. i don't always enjoy *everything* about driving, but its better than it was! i indeed want to make sure mum gets healthy at a good pace. she does have a tendency to cuss at me when she shouldn't, which has finally been seen by staffers. today we had a therpay group, and she had weights. i told her switch hands. she sid f u i dont see why i have to change my effing hands.... this went on several times. to others she acts sweet as pie.

yep, cheeta...it has been. i have just been sooo pooped i come home, bathe, stick on my jazz station n zonk out. until i get up to do it again!

btw if anyone wnats to hear the jazz station...

    http://www.wrti.org/listenlive.html

half the day it's jazz. half the day it's classical. it makes a good mix to my normal classic rock station!

oh, and i've managed to be able to get some of my mending done whislt at the nursing home. they laugh when i bring in my salwars to put the nalas (the waistband strings) in, or when i need to sew up something...but it's good...i wish i had the time to b at the sewing machine, but right now, i just don't...so i gotta take the show on the road, and get it in when i can.

as for the info about the st@lker....i will send that out on the email list, and will not that whover wishes to respond may, and if you don't then you don't need to, and that im sorry if i bothered that person with it. i rarely put out stuff on the list, but i do need to talk about with those i trust. and you guys r my second family....

  7. Hey Nirmal...I had to laugh at the thought of your mom cussing like that. It might be a bit embarrassing, but, heck, look at as a good sign she's feeling much better. lol. I Love your avatar also. Who's the pretty kitty in it?

  8. Years ago, after a car accident, I was terrified to drive again. It was months before I could get behind the wheel of a car, and when I finally did, I couldn't/wouldn't make left hand turns. lol! Really! Where ever I went, I would have to figure out how to get there by only making right hand turns.
It took a long time, but in 1979, I learned how to drive a full size school bus, and now, I drive 18 wheelers for a living. I came a long way from not being able to get behind the wheel. If I could do it, so can you! A Defensive Driving course will also help you...you will regain your confidence, and be better prepared to handle the roadways. Keep your chin up! :)

  9. @feral! hey hon i missed uuu! about the kitty frankly, i dunno. i goggled it becaus emy husband didnt want me putting our pics up on the web and i made a boo boo...which my psycho stalker got a hold of and sent around trying to make toruble. anyway..about mum n her ucssing...it's funny from the outside...and she's not the only one there who does it, but she gets violent with me. it's a long standing issue. im not worried about it being embarrassing because when others see her showing her true colours, it actaully makes me feel relieved. it's when she does it and no one is around, and i have to cope with the crap that gets me. @NJkatwoman - wow....a full bus and 18 wheeelrs.....i can't do that much cuz im a tiny thing, and driving a van was havock for me. but much kudos to u for being bale to do it! i just like watching the cute male truck drivers..... last month there was another sikh truck driver at a trucking place near the local driving center. i really wanted to pick him up and take him home...u know...another kitty.....

and yesterday, i was driving to mum, and i accidently leaned forward, stopped just in time...and hit the steering wheel. i didnt harm anyone, but let's just say i honked the horn by accident, and it wasn't with my hands!

and today i went and did the wash. there were a bunch of cute guys without women attending them, and i also found these little Filipino goodies - toasted wheat cakes in various flavours - coconut screwpine, ube (purple yam), crispy rice and plain. they r little round things, shaped like candies, and have a consistency of packed dry cake mix. they r slightly sweet and buttery and oddly satisfying. i surprise the owners f the dollar store i get it from because they like that im willing to try their native stuff. i enjoy trying stuff im not used to....and make it a habit as often as i can!

  16. hey abbi! yea it's been a bit hectic. i was either too busy or too tired to come online. thanks so much! im managing to do amazingly well, despite having to handle all myself. i managed to have some kind of system. the only thing that really got to me what what i meailed everyone about, which thank you for the great feedback all. it really helped to get that off my chest. tomorrow im going to musikfest and taking a day off. i got my hair trimmed whilst i did the wash, n just did my monthly dye job. and also cleaned up the legs n pits, so now i feel nice and refreshed. oddly enough i got a can of amp here n u guys...so its a short reprieve! next week is research at the bank, and tkaing mum to drs. so we'll see....grandad is doing fine in his cage in easton. mum got emotioanl tonight and said i hope u dont feel guilty for having to do all this. i said hell no. it's my responsibility as a daughter and family member. i just wish she'd stop fighting with me and making life tougher. i also wish i had a magic wand that would zap away everything that bothers me. but thats not realistic, so i learn from it all!

  17. hi nirmal!! it's so nice to read your post !! i'm glad to hear your mom is adjusting to the nursing home !! she is lucky to have you for a daugher, alot of people in nursing homes have nobody. i sometimes wish i had a magic wand just like you... my mother is getting older ( God bles her)and her health is not as good as it was, hypertesion and getting hard of hearing. my mom has her difficult moments ( she lives with us) and i take care of her, it can be very draining. but she;s my mom and a good person and i was lucky to have her, so i take it in stride like you do.... my mom goes through these moments where she thinks she can work ,, she was a nurse for 50 years and finally retired at age 70 she's 74 now... i tell her over and over " mom you are retired , you don't need to work" but you know mom's they are hard to raise...lol....

i'm glad you are getting back to driving, i use my ipod touch phone in the car and listen to david cassisy and donny osmond and the andrew's sisters ectra... i love lime wire.. i love that site ... i think i phone is attached to me .. i just love it.... i like the games and the internet...

please keeep us posted on how you are and your mom and family .. lots of hugs to you !!
