Lisa, I think that you should have a very open dialogue with your cardiologist about the pro's and con's of having a pacemaker. I know that the thought can be frightening, but it is probably a procedure that would dramatically improve your quality of life.
Mucho hugs!

I was really resistant to having a hysterectomy and I now regret that I didn't get one when my problems started instead of waiting until everything got bad and I had a rougher time than I would have otherwise. I agree with WWM about talking to the Dr. about the procedure.

People with pacemakers have told me how hard they resisted the idea, and then how happy they were when they got them. But I will know when the time is right I think. I really will be more content with the idea when I've lost weight, and tried a few more medications. Of course it's hard to lose weight when you can't keep up low-level cardio exeercise for any length of time. That's why I need you guys behind me. This is a big, hairy problem with many facets. I want to get it all under control. My mom has done it without resorting to a pacemaker. I'd like to do the same.

How about setting a time line by which you will have gotten this under control? If you don't reach the goal within this timeline, proceed with the pacemaker option. Sometimes just setting a goal gets you more proactively working to achieve it. I'm glad you have doctors that you have confidence in. Have they said how long you ought to let this go on before getting a pacemaker?

They keep up with the strength of my heart muscle. For now it's good and healthy and all my valves are sound. When my heart starts to enlarge or become weak, then it becomes a necessity. That will all be monitored by echocardiograms and things called "remote event monitors". In the meantime, it's up to me. I take care of myself all the time by keeping salt low so my lungs don't get taxed, allergies under control (that's why it was important to get out of the old apt.), stress to a dull roar, weight has GOT TO GO, quit smoking more than ten years ago, and Lord knows I did love those nasty things, stay out of the heat, take my medication right, no stimulants, and--this will seem odd but it's true--no more late night loud live music. I really miss it!!!

Lisa, you have all of my prayers and healing energy. I hope things start to get better. Does your doctor have you on a nutrition program so that you get optimum vitamins and minerals to help your overall health? I know you mentioned the no salt. I am working on changing my way of eating to include a lot more leafy greens and berries and anything that is high in antioxidents. You have my email. I am happy to be a closer part of your support network.

Guys, I'm sorry I've been such a sorry poster this week. This is the first time I've ever worked six days in a row at the clinic. I picked a stupid time to try it. I'm coming come and going to bed by seven. I promise I won't do it again! But I traded the extra days for the Saturday after Thanksgiving!!!
My diet guideline is easy: eat bright colors and healthy fats, i.e., blueberries, strawberries, watermelon, tomatoes, olive oil, fatty fish...you get the idea.

Lisa,
Good grief! I have been just barely checking in and look what happens! We just finished our huge, once a year conference. I have barely been able to brush my teeth but this is crazy. Of course you have my prayers, positive thoughts and healing white light. Even though I am over here in College Station is there anything I can do for you? I'm so sorry that you are not feeling well. Please let me know what I can do to help. e-mail me at cdollisonmoore at yahoo dot com Again, many prayers for you are coming from me. The boys send purrs, headbonks and lots of love. Next time don't wait to ask for help or prayers! We love you and care about your welfare. Take care and please try to stay as cool as possible. -
Lisa
You could not have reached out to a more caring group of people in all the Earth. The prayers of these people have much power and will help you in all your needs. Have you thought of working out in water? My mom has Post Polio and since she is not allowed to do any strenuous excercize, water-based excercize has helped her greatly to increase strength and even some muscle mass, while not adversely affecting her joint or nerve functions. I imagine this same type of program could be good for you while not overly taxing your heart.

Lisa, never be afraid to ask for prayers from the TDK family. I used to be leery of it myself, but have asked and have always ALWAYS felt loved and prayed for afterward. I'm send prayers to you that you get better soon.
