Good morning everybody, hope you are sleeping in and getting rested for the coming week. Thought I would start today if that's ok with you all...I have already been walking for 50 min today (started raining so I came home). It's supposed to rain all day off and on...so in between rain showers, I just got done re-stacking a 6 x 6 foot section of my firewood pile that fell over a week or so ago (nobody/nothing hurt, just a mess). It took about 35 min, so I'm hoping I got a good upper body workout from that effort. I had to do something to work off the bacon and eggs breakfast I made for hubby and myself earlier. I'm off to the showers now, have a great Sunday everyone.

Good morning, Annie!
I've gotten backto my habit of writing down everything I eat. With working so much for the last month, I had stopped doing that and the result was a lot of extra snacking during the day. I started writing down everything again on Thursday and have been doing a lot better again.
Today when I'm running my errands, I'm going to get a smaller notebook than the one I've been using. This way, I'll put it in my purse and I can write down what I eat when I'm not at home (which is pretty much all day!). -
I went to the gym this morning and did an hour of hard cardio. Would be happier if the stupid scale would budge.
My eating is always a mix of really healthy and semi-bad. Breakfast is always the same; Cheerios, fruit and 1% milk. During the week lunch is a giant salad with salsa for dressing. Dinner is less predictable, because it's usually whatever Mike feels like making, unless I do something in the crockpot. Ditto on the weekends; Mike generally makes lunch and dinner, and he can eat anything he wants, so we do. And then he goes out and buys ice cream! Oh well, I could eat nothing but bunny food and tofu, but I think I'd go nuts.
I did the tracking what I ate thing for a long time, and it definitely helped. Maybe I should go back to doing that for a while.

Kilroy, for me just writing down all I eat and the calories I estimate is in what I eat makes me eat less. It's the first time I've ever done it as part of a diet, but it really works!
Do you have snacks during he day or just breakfast, lunch and dinner? I couldn't believe how eating something every few hours increased my metabolism! I bring a snack of a yogurt, mini rice cakes, a granola bar etc. to work with me and eat those between meals. It's helped me lose 38 lbs!

You've done a great job losing weight, GD! Congratulations. :)
This is a "recovery" day for me. We had our hula recital/event last night. I am beat!! I didn't get home until 12:30a.m. and was so wound up I didn't get to bed until 2am. I finally got up at 11am. Haven't slept in like that in a very long time. lol

The hula event was outstanding. I decided to just have fun with the whole thing and not sweat mistakes. My hula class performed five numbers. It was fun watching the other classes, especially the tiny girls. There were little girls who danced hula and little girls who did Tahitian style dancing (fast hip shaking). They all wowed the crowd. About 1500 people were in attendance. I can't wait to do it again next year! :D
Good job at being almost to your goal weight, GD. The challenge will be maintaining it over time. That has always been where I've struggled most.

That sounds like such a fun time, KW!!
I have trouble maintaining, too. I'm usually up and down in weight a lot. This is the first time I've lost weight without just sarving myself, so I think there's a much better chance of me maintaining it this time around with the better eating habits my ulcer taught me.

GD, your advice above is spot on! Obviously it works for you too since you have lost a lot of weight. I am also tracking my food (not as consistently as I should) but it really does help. I'm in a wellness program w/my insurance and the nutritionist has told me that logging food and eating several smaller meals a day are two of the key factors to success and I can see it working for myself. It's easier for me to do the fitness part (than the eating part) because I love walking, yoga and weight training. I like using Sparkpeople to track fitness and food so everything's in one place.
