Owwwww, WWM! I know those toe cage thingies, and they're *dangerous*. Be careful, please. We need you around here for a long, long time.

I never liked the toe cages and refused to use them. They are just too darn dangerous as you cannot get your foot out of them quick enough when you try to stop on a bike. Please be careful WWM. :::stern look to Mr. WWM regarding the toe cages::::
It is Moanday and even though I got a good amount of sleep and nap time this weekend, I still feel tired. I believe this is because getting up at 5:45am is really for the birds and my normal natural wake up time is around 8:30am even with going to bed at 10:30pm. I met my step-mom for a very nice dinner at the Claremont Hotel in Berkeley at 8pm on Saturday evening. I didn't leave till around 10:50pm and didn't get to bed till midnight. My cats seemed to know that I will be gone in two weeks for a week long conference as they were clingy with me this weekend. If I was in the living room, they were with me there, if I went to take a nap in the bedroom, they came and napped with me. I was really enjoying them and didn't want to leave them this morning. I did manage to get three loads of laundry done on Saturday morning but still need to do more loads and do the vacuming. I also need to scrub down the bathtub. Where is that darn Hazel!

*swats away circling buzzards......*
Well, in defense of Mr. WWM, I'll only have the toe cage thingies until I get my new road bike which will have clips. Then I can fall over while learning to use those!
Maybe I need a tricycle......

SMM, I forgot about your big trip coming up. You're going to Vegas right? I love weekends when the cats are all lovey dovey. Especially when Thierry is in the mood for cuddles.
WWM, if you find a tricycle in adult size let me know! I fall when I am trying to get off, get on, going up hiss and grind to a stop... Crux of the matter is I don't know how to use the gears. I grew up with a 3 speed and bought this bike at a yard sale for 15.00. It is a nice bike....pretty purple. But the gears aren't labeled and I don't know what I am doing. If I am on flat ground, I do ok, but trying to keep going up a hill, I grind to a stop and fall over. If I ever see a no-speed bike at a yard sale, it may have to be mine!

KK, you have to use your gears just by feel, really. Usually, and the key word is usually, the main gear on the right will make pedaling easier and the main gear on the left will push you into a higher gear, making pedaling harder. So you want to anticipate the hill and shift into a lower gear before you hit the climb.
Actually, there are tricycles for adults! A man rode one in the 150 mile ride that Mr. WWM recently did. Here's a picture of a sort of "townie" three wheeler. There are also "racing" models.

YAY! I was NOT chosen for the jury! Actually nothing happened until 200pm. NOTHING!!! We just sat there! Then they picked 35 peeps from the about 250 of us and the rest of us had to sit there some more. Then the judge came in and said everyone else plead out and we could go home! Sure did earn my $13

I have emptied the fridge, left a note out for the milkman, organised cat sitters (actually my daughter and her boyfriend are here), packed, got some euros, found and checked my passport, ditto my EHIC, printed out the info I need to get the tickets, organised lifts to and from the airport is there anything else I need to do before I set off to Berlin?

I bought some ice cream from the ice cream truck for Maddie and me and we went out on the deck in the backyard and ate them and then built sandcastles in her sandbox till Abbie woke up. It was so nice.

I don't have papers delivered and darling daughter will make sure that the post is pushed right through the door (and will pick it up and sort it into his, mine and hers I hope).
I'm doing a recce for the school trip in September. The hotel does have interwebs so I might be able to keep you up to date. It depends how tired I am by the end of each day. As I won't be sleeping at all tonight (leaving the house at 2.00am to get to the airport for a 6.55 flight) I can guarantee you will NOT be hearing from me on Tuesday!Posted 2 years ago by Pollys_Mum_in_UK_2605 #

We went to Whipsnade Zoo yesterday - it was wonderful. I want to go again soon. I fell in love with the lemurs and the meerkats and the lions and the tigers and the cheetahs and we didn't get to see the hippos, but the rhinos were stupendous...............

Oh I almost forgot the baby elephant. She's only 2 weeks old and she was out for a walk round the zoo (it's more like an enormous safari park) with her mum and 3 other elephants.

Oh, KK....have to tell you that I tried your combo of Tarragon and Turmeric and it is GREAT!!!!!! They DO go well together :)
This morning, I saw something on the carpet in the bedroom....thought it might be a leaf or perhaps a furrball.....I almost picked it up with my bare hands...glad I didn't....it was a small shrew that Mo had killed and brought to us!!!!!!!!!! EUUUUU! I freaked out thinking that thing was in the house and how many more are there! I am surprised he killed it, they are very mean and bite! Good boy, Mo! -
CM we are flying from Gatwick (or as I always call it Gatport Airwick). It's about a 3hour drive from here and we are actually supposed to check in 3 hours before we fly. I'm hoping for a 2 and half hour drive as it's the middle of the night and checking in 2 and a half hours before we fly.
We're flying sleazy jet (sorry Easy Jet) so there won't be any food on board, but we'll have time for a good breakfast after we've checked in.Posted 2 years ago by Pollys_Mum_in_UK_2605 #

ALL THE BIER IN GERMANY IS GOOD AV! I love the dark black (Schwarze) beer!

Sorry I don't drink beer AV, but I believe Berliner Weisse is what one is supposed to drink in Berlin. I know I ought to drink beer in Germany but I'm allergic to something in it and just a couple of mouthfuls makes me violently ill. :-( I actually like the taste too...........
