I am not sure where one cat equals crazy cat lady but this article mentions it.

I laugh at the m*ron who says 4 = crazy plus they're breeding all over the place. How do you figure multiple cats means 'breeding all over'? I used to have 4 cats & no one except my boyfriend & best friend knew. Not my co-workers, not even my parents. Because I was sure they'd give me that ridiculous title. I had a 2 bedroom house, plenty of room for all of us, boxes cleaned twice a day, changed once a week. I kept lint rollers in my car & at my desk so I was never "covered in cat hair". But funny how my co-workers with baby vomit on their suit are never chastised for being unkempt, just "good moms". They've all popped out several children who break things when they come over, demand I give them stuff, throw tantrums in restaurants, etc. Two are even pregnant at the ripe old age of 15 and 17 respectively.
Me? I took in 2 abused cats and wound up with 4 when a friend's mom died & the cats would have been put down. They were quiet & cuddly, they peed & pooped in a box - as opposed to my friends' seemingly never-potty-trained til grade school kids. My cats ate whatever I fed them & without getting it all over the floor or themselves. When my dad died they were a source of comfort, purring softly ever sleepless night I missed him. When my boyfriend and I broke up, he asked to adopt the 2 late additions because he came to love them so because despite his big macho appearance, he melted with each furry cuddle. I have a friend who rescues many cats & because she does so, people often dump cats on her doorstep. She adopts them out as quickly as possible but usually has between 5 & 6 at a time. Sometimes even dogs get dumped with her. She's not nuts, she's an executive with a great job, a great husband and helpful kids. She's pretty and smart and happens to be big-hearted so if not for myself, than for a terrific person like her, I'm pi$$ed off at the generalized insults toward people for having more than one cat - you don't know their house, their circumstance or their life. Some of us are just pitching in to help animals because so many of you are irresponsible, selfish and mean-spirited.
