Dad... was moved to ICU today. Stopped breathing twice. He is DNR where his heart is concerned. His bp was sky high for a few days and his heart rate in the 30's to 40. I"m kcking myself for not being more vocal about his care. I'm his POA, I'm supposed to help him. What if my being mousy kills him? I'm heading back to the hospital.

Lainey, let God lead you where you need to go--Remember the first prayer that any Christian ever learned--the Lord's prayer--especially the part that says " Thy will be done"--we cannot override that--even though that is what we all want to do sometimes. You have people here that understand.
Lainey, hugs and prayers go with you. Sometimes, no matter what we do, God has other plans. For years after my mother died, I beat myself up with "what if." I held her POA and always felt I should have been stronger, too. Peace and blessings to you both. Don't feel alone, all of TDK is with you.

Thank you, everyone. it was a long day and night yesterday. They were going to release him (actually two of my sibs were there to meet with the team and ask that he not be released he said he wasn't ready). Had he been released and this event happened at home he would have died. As it stands now he needs a new pacemaker and they are going to put in an internal defibrillator. He has a central line and six medications to regulate his heart going in. I'm angry that they were going to relase him with a bp of 185/95, heartrate of 38 and still having an infection AND no PT.
I do feel everyone's love and support and I thank you more than you can know!
My Jetta is taking good care of me, too!
I have to get to work. Will check in when I can. I love you all.

Lainey you and father are in my prayers and I'm livid that the hospital would even consider sending your father home with blood pressure that high. Is it because of the DNR? Thank you, everyone. I'm crying right now just imagining all of you praying for my dad and for me. I feel the love, care and concern. Karen, i'm not sure why he was being released. it's not for the DNR as other than these issues, he's fairly healthy! The DNR is if his heart stops and heck, with a new pacemaker and the internal defibrillator that isn't likely to happen, unless something massive happens the equipment cannot correct. His infection was under control (but not gone)that is what he was in there for.
Emma, i know what you are saying about deserving of love. it's just that i've done some pretty stupid things that have hurt him so badly (never intentionally) and I know that only his intense love for me has kept us together.
I told my dad last nigth that I had people all over the world praying for him, cat people, I said, and he had a great big smile. Thanks everyone. Please keep praying!
