  2. How old is your kitten?

  3. they are three weeks tomorrow

  4. Keep offering her milk (Kitten Milk Replacement, not cow's milk). Have you offered the kittens any wet kitten food? You could mix some KMR into it to make sure she stays hydrated.

  7. Keep checking back for other suggestions from other TDKers. How did you end up having to bottle feed these babies? Do they have names?

  12. I don't know if they are or not. I haven't bottle fed orphan kittens myself, but others here have. I do recall people saying that dehydration is the biggest concern. Is this kitten otherwise active and pooping/peeing?

  18. Are you sure the babies aren't sick? That would be the first thing to exclude, in which case they need to be checked by a vet.
As long as you exclude sickness, maybe the babies are older and then you could try other things, such as mixing KMR with small amounts of kitten wet food.
But I would emphasize to first make sure that maybe they are not getting sick and need medical attention.

  19. well im sure their not sick they were just seen by the vet and they are in thier kitty room now wrestling with eachother. hehe its soo cute they are trying to "run" for the first time ever. i think they are just ready for the transition to drinking the formula from a bowl then gradually food because they are getting all the formula they need thru the bottle they just seem like they dont want to "nurse"

  20. I am so glad to hear this. Then, they may posibly be older than you thought (an added week can make a huge difference).
I imagine that they are just adorable, I love wrestling kittens..
Have you tried different size bowls, or better still, when I weaned my fosters, I just used a flat plate.

  21. yes im trying to use a small saucer and let them touch the kmr with their paws to know its there but they just do not seem to get the concept.lol. i guess practice makes purrfect so i just keep trying. now if only they would start going potty on their own haha.

  22. Sounds like you're doing a great job; it does take a bit of patience.
Would love to see some photos when you get a chance.
    Good night.

  23. I try a whole bunch of different kitten food mixed with KMR when I start to wean my babies. They won't touch anything and then one day they will smell something that catches thier taste and attention (Just have to be careful they aren't trying each kind or you can quickly get tummy issues changing food).

3 weeks is a little young to start, but they know better than we do...just be sure if they aren't taking anything by bottle or on thier own in a bowl/plate/saucer you give them fluids somehow. I have resorted to gently force-feeding a mixture of KMR and wet kitten chow from a syringe or putting the same mixture on my finger and letting them taste it that way. When I am weaning I check every couple of hours by picking them up like Mama Cat would by the scruff of thier neck and see how quickly the skin goes back to normal: Quickly means they are not dehydrated and if it seems the least bit sluggish I start syringe feeding KMR or the wet/KMR mix to get them the fluids they need.

Oh my! Probably answered more than your question. Good luck!
