My mom has sent me a number of haiku that she has written over the years, almost all cat-centric. She has others that touch on differnt subjects which she will send another time. I'm including one poem from me as well. Have fun and enjoy them.
Kitten on the keys
Used to mean piano keys
Those were other days.
Thunder and lightning!
Kittens scatter, chick gather,
Waiting out the storm.
Memorial day
Mycat's memories-
Food, soft pillow, warmth, moonlight.
Not last year's kittens.
Labor Day
Labor day! What's that?
There's no translation for it
In Mycat's language.
Christmas
In my Christmas tree
A furry decoration
Purrs and waves her tail.
After the rain Mycat,
Delicate, fastidious,
Shakes her rain wet paws.
Drive in movie time.
Mycat, mydog, my three sons
Old van is rocking!
Mycat caught a mouse
It had my finger on it.
Now she has them both.
Mycat's not made of
Transparent aluminum.
Oh well, she's pretty.
I think the previous poem was an allusion to Star Trek The Voyage Home,
But I'd have to ask mom mom to be sure. She IS a big fan.
Kitty/computer
Must take turns, Selfish mama
Needs to read her mail.
Now, one from me:
Mailbox
Sweet Auora,
Or foul Pandora,
Which shall my mailbox be today?
When opened will the world's ills,
A big stack of bills,
Come pouring out demanding pay?
Does my mailbox contain light
Or within is their fright?
I'm afraid to see what it holds for me.
Will hope remain inside
Or will it subside
When I open my maibox with my key?
Is it benevolent
Or is it malevolent;
Will it bring me pleasure or will it bring me pain?
Does it hold a love letter
Or a note to this debtor
That it's time to pay my damn bills again?
