I'm posting this site again in the hopes that people will bookmark it for emergencies. It doesn't cover anything that our wise and very experienced TDKers don't already know, and explained very clearly on poor Binx's emergency thread, but it may help people in the future, especially if it's at a time of day or the weekend when not many people are on.
These are the first aid guidelines from the American Veterinary Medical Association for all animals, including cats:
http://www.avma.org/firstaid/procedures.asp
Please bookmark it or a similar site for the future. It covers poisoning, seizures, fractures, bleeding, burns, choking, heatstroke and shock, as well as animal resuscitation. It is only basic first aid information but it might help to save your pet until you can get him or her
to a vet.
The advice given on the kitten care websites is, if you think a kitten has aspirated formula -- i.e. if you are feeding them and they start choking -- gently hold them upside down until they stop choking. Then get them to a vet.
This info wouldn't have helped poor Binx, because I know all this advice was given and followed, and little orphan kittens are so, so fragile. The odds are heavily against them. But I hope it may help someone else.
