  3. Good morning, AV! "ICK" is right! We had a terrible storm last night and I was without power for 6 hours. It finally came on after midnight. The cats and I went to bed early, but they sure were confused why mama didn't turn on any lights!

  4. Hi MC!...... where DID the weekend go?..... Tell us about yours - did you get some nice time with FF?.... and how is he doing with his diagnosis?.....

Posted 2 years ago by AV #

  5. I hear you, LadyKat, we were up half the night with storms too. I was on the boat all weekend too, with strong winds, so I am still "rockin' and rollin'" as I sit here (takes awhile for the equilibrium to adjust). I think I will just have a bagel with cream cheese, and some orange juice please.

  6. Oh dear, those storms can be frightening!.... funny how the fur butts become "velcroed" to us...... pushes BIG glasses of OJ to LK and NNGM.....

  7. Morning all!!

So we got a portable a/c to put in our bedroom from my sister..since our bedroom gets HOT and it was 93 degrees yesterday. So we ran the a/c...forgot to empty the condensation pan and at 12:30am, Wayne came to bed and remembered the pan...well it overflowed and our carpet is soaked..so we were pulling up carpet at 1am and we cut out the pad..we have to get some more pad and hopefully the carpet will dry out..it's a large piece of the carpet, but not all...so we shall see..Too bad it wasn't hard wood floors underneath the carpet or I would just say pull it up...throw it out and let's do hard wood floors..but nooooooo...

Can I have some OJ, bacon, and some rye toast please...

  8. Hi, MC, CM, AV, LK and NNGM, just checking in before I head off to bed, yuck, Monday, I just had it, wasn't too bad, at least I got the work done I really needed to, but wasn't wonderful either. And I was working most of the weekend :( but I suppose I should be happy I have some work!

Oh, CM, what bad luck about the a/c, as we say over here, b*gger! Hard wood floors would really have cheered you guys up a bit (cooler, too, but noisier and colder in winter -- but they do look lovely!)

  9. oh CM!..... I'm so sorry!...... *slides a big plate of food and OJ* her way.... best thing is to have professional carpet cleaners come in and take care of the mess, but knowing how we all suffer in this *stinking* economy, a couple of words of advise: make sure you get some "kills" or something to spray on the under floor, so mold doesn't grow!......you can rent a "wet vac" at Lowes or Home Depot to vacumn most of the water out, then let it dry thoroughly..... also, manytimes, your homeowners insurance will cover things like this, so check into that!.... best of luck!

  10. Hi Jcat, sweet dreams!

  11. AV...speaking of bagels...I know we both like salt...do you like salt bagels? Dunkin' Donuts makes really good ones. I don't even bother with the donuts...just a salt bagel. And now I am craving one!

  12. Thanks, AV! Nighty-night, and have a great day, all!

  13. ooooohhhhhhh, YUM! salt bagels!..... you bet!......and no, I haven't tried them from Dunkin Donuts!.... I usually go to Einstein on S. Dale Mabry/Swann.... my favorite is poppy seed (and it's salty) with a schmear of salmon cream cheese and a slice of lox!....... getting dressed now and heading to Einsteins!..... They actually have decent coffee too (but strong)!.... but speaking of coffee, my sis swears by Dunkin Donut's coffee - she actually goes out of her way to buy it there..... I need to try it!.....

  14. Night jcat..have a good nights sleep.

I did mention a wet vac but it's luckily it's a small enough area we can take care of it...thank goodness...just a pain. Good Idea on the kills.

  16. No seeing FF this weekend. He was at Lollapalooza one day (hated it!) and worked the other. He was at a station he is not fond of but since he switched shifts he had to go to a different station. He said the guys there are really steroid laiden macho men who like to watch dirty movies all the time. He said they talk about their "activity" from the previous week and compare notes. He is NOT like that at all so I can imagine his un-comfortable-ness (<- new word) with it all. So I should see him this week. His diagnosis has him incredibly depressed so I think that doesn't help either.

  17. *shuffles in, pets kitties for a while* I'm back at w**k, sigh. I would like to borrow an agency kitten for the day as I am having separation anxiety from Leela. I'll return her in time for NS. Can't even go right home after work - dentist appt. Plus hubby is out all day. I feel a bit better knowing her little Larry is protecting her!

  21. Monday...Monday can't trust that day...it just turns out that waaaay! It is another grey day in Milwaukee...but we need the rain! I need black coffee quick to get the day started. Wishing all a mellow even if it is a Monday kind of day/evening!

  22. A country Good Morning to ALL from a dreary WI! Granddaughter is here today, so that makes it a good day :)) It looks like it may clear, though. Wishing everyone a good Monday!

  24. Morning everyone. I can't believe it is Monday already. I had family in over the weekend and we had a great time. My sister-in-law and I took a jewelry making class on Saturday and I now have a really neat pendant that is of my own design and manufacture. It is a large piece of amethyst and silver wire accented with glass beads. My husband was surprised I made something so big anc clunky, but the material lent itself to that.

Over the weekend I made blueberry waffles with real maple syrup and thick sliced bacon, so I am bringing that to the cafe this morning. Dig in!

  25. Ughhh, Monday. Today I have to go to a training for a volunteer program I'm going to be starting soon. I also have school tonight. Yesterday I got bit by a mosquito and had a BAD allergic reaction to it. My arm got a bump literally bigger than a baseball's circumference on it. It was very hard, very red, very hot, and very painful. I started getting dizzy and my throat felt about 15% closed up. I could not really grip things in my hand on the arm that got bit. I took benadryl right away. Today it is still the same size but sticks up a little bit less. It hurts really badly. I hate having such bad reactions to bugs. It's scary :(

  26. Good morning all. Happy Monday.

Posted 2 years ago by oakcrone #

  27. Geez Gini, ouch, be careful. You were headed for anaphalactic shock. You may want to check into getting an epi pen - might save your life. {{{Gini}}}
Hey KYK, I made blueberry pancakes last weekend. Hubby had plain and I added the blueberries for mine. When we were done, I made 1 HUGE blueberry pancake and put it in the fridge. One evening last week I stuffed it into a little dessert dish, nuked it for about 10 seconds, and topped it with cool whip and more blueberries, yum!

  28. Joan you are right I probably should have one. When I was little I was allergic to bees. I never ever had a reaction to mosquito bites other than the norm. However, over the past few years when I get mosquito bites it just gets worse and worse. I have horrible reactions now like this one. A lot of the time they end up bruising as they start to heal. I can't even imagine what would happen if I got stung by a bee now (I've managed to avoid them and haven't been stung since I was 7)

Posted 2 years ago by gini #

  29. I think there are certain things that we become sensitized to, like bees and poison ivy. Guess mosquitoes are among them as well. To make matters worse, did you hear about the bat population in our area? They have come down with a virus that has killed off something like 90% of bats. I have not seen any bats this year. Me, I keep a bottle of "Skintastic" at my back door, in my beach bag, and I keep "Off" wipes in my purse. I can't be outside at all without it!

Posted 2 years ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

  30. Wow, Gini! How scary. I agree with Joan on getting some epi-pens. My nephew is allergic to bees. They have to be careful with him. Hope your mosquito bite heals quickly. Bats...yikes! I am always wary when I see them around.

It is going to be another hot day here. Ugh! Temps should be around 90 degrees again. Speaking of CM's portable AC, I was looking online at them on Sear's webpage last night. They run between $399 and $599 and have evaporative type so that you don't have to empty anything. I have thought about getting one but I have a huge sliding glass window in my bedroom so I would need to jury-rig some sort of cover to put over the window as the covers that come with the portable a/c machine aren't long enough. It is is all in the thinking stage but am sure if the heat continues, I may consider purchasing one.

Next week is the trip to Vegas. I am both looking forward and dreading it. It is fun to have a change of scenery but the heat and being locked in meetings from sun up to sun down three days in a row really knocks the energy out of everyone.

I had a dream that I was homeless last night. There was a group of us and we were first trying to get a bus to take us to somewhere and then we were trying to get showers and places to sleep. It wasn't a pleasant dream at all. I am very thankful for the roof over my head, etc.

So to start off the week...I will take a nice fruit smoothy please and side of extra crispy bacon.
