"ICK" Monday! Cafe 8/10 !!!

  1. It almost looks like someone hit me with a baseball bat or something.

Here is a photo I took of it last night on my phone(sorry about quality, it is a picture of a picture):

See the giant bump? That was just ONE mosquito (and I know it was a mosquito and not a different bug because I saw it on my arm and brushed it off). Today its a little less swollen but way more red and is still almost the same size.

At least I have Taco's beautiful eyes looking at me to help me through:

And Feeny to bring me toys and joy:

  2. OUCH! Gini! that looks bad!...... *where is that crazy Texan nurse when you need her*......

.... if it hasn't gone down hardly any, you might need to visit the doctor.....

.... *caterwalls* toward Texas.... "yoooohoooo WWM, what do you think?"...

  3. Holy Cow, Gini......that is one HUGE bump! I've never seen anything like that! Taco is soooo gorgeous and Feeny, too! How sweet they are :)

  4. OUCH!!
Thank goodness for Taco and Feeny, yay!
When I got stung on the top of my head by a yellowjacket (the day I found out I was allergic) a cop said they usually try to slow the blood flow till the paramedics get there, but, well, it was on the top of my head! A local first aid volunteer friend of mine said I looked like I gained 50 pounds. By that time I was sort of in la-la land so I really didn't care. It was a really hot day and I made them turn off the ac in the ambulance (shock starting I guess). I felt bad when I "came to" sent them a good size donation that year :)
Seriously, I hope they find out what's happening with the bats; they eat those pesky mosquitoes! It's weird hanging out in the backyard admiring the sunset and not seeing the bats come out.

  5. Gini, do you know if all ragdolls have eyes like Taco's? Or are his an unusual blue? They are so beautiful.

  6. Thanks guys. I hate how it made me feel yesterday, it was really creepy feeling like my throat was closing and like I couldn't grip anything with my hand. Thank god that feeling is gone today, although it still hurts like crazy even if my arm gets bumped a few inches away from the bite and it's still really warm and red and hard.

Joan that sounds so scary! They actually found out I was allergic to bees when I was 4 and I sat on a dead bee and my bum got swollen and I started going out of it! Not fun!

NNGM all ragdolls have blue eyes, but Taco's are a lot deeper than a lot of the ragdolls I have seen/known. They are supposed to lighten up a little as they get older but his always stayed really deep blue.

  7. ... you're a really good photographer Gini!.... Abby has the most beautiful light blue eyes - the color of the sky, but I never can seem to get a good photo of them...... Meezers (Rag's cousin) also have blue eyes...... and yes, hers' are slightly crossed!......

  8. Wow Gini, that is one big mosquito bite!! When I had a spider bite that was about half that size but an angry red, I went to the urgent care clinic at Kaiser and the nurse informed me that the next time it happens to get a piece of bread and soak it in milk and apply to the bite. Apparently there is some enzyme in the milk that helps draw out the anti-coagulant that the bug injects into you when it bites you. That is what I am told is what caused the inflamation and itchiness. Our TDK nurses would know more of course. Can you go to the school clinic?

By the way, Taco has such beautiful blue mesmerizing eyes! Feeny is so cute with the toy.

  9. Gini, get an epi pen stat! Your next reaction is almost guaranteed to be worse. I have a food allergy that out of the blue manifested itself about 8 years ago. I am allergic to fenugreek (aks Methe) and my doctor said the next exposure would most likely be an anaphalactic reaction and could be fatal. Fortunately it is really easy to avoid.

  10. WHAT is that horrible screeching sound coming from the east???? *sticks cotton in ears*

Gini, you should be seen today while the bump is still there and take that picture with you. You do need to have epi pens with you at all times. The definitive symptom was that your throat felt constricted. Anytime that you are allergic to bug bites the next bite will produce worse symptoms to the point of anaphylactic shock. So you need to have the pens always available. I can't over emphasize how serious a bite can be for you.

Now....... where is that worthless Hazel?????

  11. In the United States, where maple syrup is popular but expensive, fenugreek is widely used in lower-cost syrup products as a maple syrup flavoring such as Mapleine. So watch out for the fake maple syrup, Kykat.

  15. SMM Thank you for letting me know!!!!! I generally only use real maple syrup at home, but that has put me off of getting pancakes or waffles out at a restaurant.

  16. Just a quick hi to everyone who has come and gone at the cafe. I had some work this morning that was hard and I needed help, so I never got back to the cafe.
Gina, Taco and Feeney are so sweet to look after you. But I agree with others, you need to have you arm looked at.
I'm ready to go home, but I have another hour and a half to put in, and then I have to do a little grocery shopping to get done.
