  1. My cat is so weird, he will duck down on his haunches by my door, and then i will walk up behind him and he will look right at me, but as soon as i am side-by-side with him, he takes off running on our hard wood floors slipping and sliding on his claws! lol.

    What does your cat do?

  3. Heard this on the radio this morning... this woman said her 6 month old kitty got up on the counter Thanksgiving morning and got his head stuck in the turkey... Oh, how I wish there was a picture of that !

  4. OMG, One Popoki! I would love to see a picture of that! Crazy kitty. Was the inside better than the outside, hmmm? LOL!!

  5. That would make a good picture. When the three rascals of Prettygirl get going on the linoleum floor, it sounds like they're wearing sneakers. I guess because they sweat thru their paw pads. It sounds like rubber skidding on it.

  6. My lady-friend's 5yr.old female chocolate short-haired German Pointer Bailey will lay on her dog-bed by the fireplace while gettting a thorough cleaning of both ears by her 3yr.old long-hair male Coon-mix Orion. It's kinda'embarrasing to watch!

  7. When I lived at home with my parents we had a cat called Trixi. She used to love being brushed (quite roughly) with the yard broom. Whenever my Dad used to sweep the paths she would come running from wherever she was and throw herself down on the path in front of him. Once he had brushed her for a while she would move off and watch him until she felt the need to be brushed again.

  8. Pollys_Mum, that visual is funny, but she was having a good time with it

  9. Moonshadow and I play 'Bullfighters' when she comes in out of the rain soaking wet. I hold up a small towel and she runs into it like a bull at a cape, I rub her briefly then it's the charge again and again, to the accompaniment of 'OLE'. Just our bit of fun.

  10. Harry likes to try and get Tita(the Puppy) in trouble. He's figured out that if he cries when she is being too rough I will yell at Tita and make her leave him alone. Well he has started going out of the room and crying like Tita is being too rough, I figured it out one day when she was sitting right next to me and he started crying. Well last night when I got home from working a weekend shift and the dogs were still at the kennel, the little bugger went into the hallway and started crying like he was being roughed up by the puppy. I told him what a turd he is and that it works better when the dog is home.

  12. Chloe has taken to attacking 'sheet mice'... my feet under the blankets when I first go to bed. Last night it was full out attack.. until she fell off the bed. LOL She just looked back at the bed, and walked away.

  13. My male kitten likes to "eat" my hair! Usually in the middle of the night, too. Even if I pull it out of the way, he still tries to get at it. Very frustrating when I'm trying to sleep. If I am awake, he comes up and tries to climb on my shoulder so he can get at my hair. I pull it out of the way, and he tries the other side. AARRGH....

  14. OP, Mia likes to play that game too. I wake up with fresh scratches on my hands and feet sometimes. This morning, Sylvester brushed up against some wind chimes that I have laying down on a shelf on my book case. Mia launched herself out of my hands leaving a nice fresh scratch on my right hand. Last night it was Indy 500 kitties.

Also, question for all. How do I get Mia to stop wanting to climb up my computer hutch or my bookcase? I have used the water bottle before but don't like to use around those two areas as I don't want my computer equipment or my books getting wet. Any ideas? Saying No loudly or clapping my hands together loudly isn't working any more. She got me so mad with her continually doing it last night that I almost wanted to lock her in the bathroom (I didn't do it though).

  15. What a bunch of crazy kitties, eh? I love it...We have one 9 month old Kitty named Toughy..he's anything but tough. He loves to climb onto a chair or the sofa, flingover on his back right at the edge of the seat...then slowly..with all four paws outstretched..slide down onto the floor. Sometimes he's able to slow the process down so that you're on the edge of your own seat waiting to see if he'll fall or not fall.He likes us to reach out just before he drops to save him..he bats us away and away he goes! We love the laugh and he loves to perform....

  16. Karin-
try this: go to www.gardeners.com and type in "cat scat" in the search area. They are plastic spikes you put in your garden, potted plants, etc. that will deter cats from walking in unwanted areas. You could tape them to your desk or bookshelves until she learns not to go there. (will not hurt the cat)

  17. Karin, the best way to keep a cat from climbing a bookcase is to fill it with books, and line up all the books with the front edge of the case (instead of pushing them in until they hit the back).

When the cat goes to try and climb it, undoubtedly some of the books will spill out and crash to the floor. They usually make enough noise and thump that the cat won't do it again.

Unless, of course, your cat turns out to like the ensuing excitement of slip, crash, thump, yell. (Better than being bored, I guess!) If that's the case, well, um... fresh rue thickly laid down wherever the cat shouldn't be, should do the trick.

(Rue is ridiculously easy to grow, and pretty to boot.)

Or you could try strips of double-faced tape where his feet would land/climb. Cats absolutely hate getting that stuff stuck to their feet. You might want to try foam double-faced tape, as its adhesive seems to stick pretty thoroughly to whatever surface you're attaching it to.

Alternatively, as a low-cost alternative, take a roll of clear wide packing tape (for sealing up cardboard boxes) and tear off one long strip, and two short bits. Lay it down sticky-side up, and tape down each end with a short bit. Cover the surface, wherever the cat would step, land, or climb. Mia will learn!

  18. I tried the sticky tape trick, worked with 2 of them, didn't work with Ms. B...she gets up where she feels like it and no flipping sticky tape will deter her, lol. Even tried aluminum foil around the plants to keep them out of there, yeah they balled it up and batted it around the house. Gotta love 'em though.

  19. Well, part of the problem is she hops up on my computer chair, climbs up onto the printer table, up on top of the printer and then hops up to the top of the hutch. I think the plastic spikes might work but will have to figure somehow to tape them down so I can remove them to use the printer.

As for the book case, it is an old scandanavian design bookcase that has an area that is enclosed. the top of the enclosed area is where I put my picture frames, my box of my kitty whisker's ashes and some pictures of her. Mia is so tiny that she can squeeze herself behind the picture frames. Again, I think those plastic garden things might help. Thanks for the suggestion. Also might consider putting tin foil up too.
