  1. Have to say I don't like the idea of ranking posters! This site is meant to be open to everyone and yes, there are some people who have been here longer than others, but isn't it meant to be an even playing field? If you like cats and are a decent person you can come and join in; the thought of ranks makes it seem elitist, and will put new people immediately on a step down where they have to 'earn' the right to be fully accepted into the community. And how would you rate it? Some people can only stop by at certain times but have lovely things to say and good advice when they do, whereas others are able to chatter on more with non-cat stuff in the cafes etc. And both of these are TDK; the cat advice is obviously the heart of it, but the recipes and the chat and fun is what makes it a family and halps us to get to know each other better in my opinion. So would it be ranked by number of posts, or cat-relatedness, or friendliness, or what? Just my thoughts.

  2. Sorry KM, I'm still going to argue the point here (dog with a bone - or should that be cat with some nip?!) - but SMM's post concluded that she liked the idea of a committee, and if I've judged the mood correctly from the rest of the posts on this thread, the majority are in favour of being able to see links from here, but with more controls. So, for arguments sake, only a TDK "vetter" would be able to actually post a thread containing any such appeal; any other thread would be automatically deleted with an explanatory email to the poster. This really could work, and shouldn't offend anyone. I'm quite happy to take on a committe role, I'm sure enough other people would too - you'd only need 5 tops, three would eb more workable. It doesn't need to be too officious, just apply a number of pre-agreed perameters (can't you just tell I've been in a management meeting all morning?!!)

    So...?

  3. I agree with KM on this one. That is one of the reasons that I stopped visiting the site as much. Seems like everyday someone was always wanting money. Don't get me wrong...I think it is great to be able to help out friends and donate to worthy causes. The thing is that I own a business...do you know how many people come in everyday wanting you to donate something? I finally had to decide who I really wanted to help and say no to the others. I would love to help everyone but then if I did that I would not be able to take care of myself and my family. Then you are torn between feeling guilty cause you didn't help one and you did someone else. I am currently working with a group who is trying to help rebuild homes for fire victims who lost everything. We accept all donations but I don't feel it appropriate for me to ask all of you to donate just because I know you on this site. I think in these economically hard times that everyone could use some type of help but I believe that certain things take priority over others. For example...I wouldn't like it but if I had to give up my internet to pay for things my animals needed then that would be a sacrifice I would have to make. BTW..I think if someone needed help and a person was adviced and sent out an email to others that would be a great way to help. Just my thoughts. Back to lurk mode.

  4. We all have our opinions on this subject, but the bottom line is.....
This site belongs to the KittenMaster and he continues to keep the site up, answers our requests for changes or additions (such as the link to TDK meetup pictures) and responds to our post reportings and gives us a beautiful kitten each morning! He does all this and asks very little from us other than some simple rules to keep it fluffy!
    His site, his rules!

  5. Does this mean that I can't bump up my ChipIn link any more?
