  1. In honor of the Ben and Jerry's Key Lime Pie Ice Cream, let's have a Key Lime Pie NS! We have of course, Key Lime PIE, Key Lime Ice Cream and Key Lime Cocktails. If you don't fancy Key Lime Pie, there is some fresh baked Peach Bread! Then there is Fudge Over Overload Ice Cream. Make your own fresh salads with all fresh greens and goodies from the NS Kittehs garden. There are also all sorts of snacks, sandwiches, and soups for our friends who are having winter. It's a NS of odds and ends. There are alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks for all. We have candles lit and the jukebox is kicking out hits of the 50s, 60s and 70s. AV and WWM can serenade us! Welcome. I may not be here long, took some narcotics to help my neck and head so I may clunk my head on the keyboard!

  6. .... I'm not a big fan of key lime pie (or any pie), but will take a key lime, a salt shaker, and a nice shot of tequila!..... LOL (ok, so it's MY version!)

Posted 2 years ago by AV #

  7. I was going to be appalled, AV, but you redeemed yourself with the tequila - I'll join you for one!

  8. Sounds great AV, I never thought of making it into a margarita!! The ice cream itself sounds great! I need to try it and SOON...

  10. Mmmm, I love key lime. Actually I think I will take a bottle of Mike's Hard Lime. Boy is that stuff good.

  11. Hi Joan...I've had the Mike's Hard Lemonade but not Lime. That sounds good too.

Posted 2 years ago by Karenopa #

  12. Oh, the mike's key lime is awesome! BTW, Mike's has out a limited edition that is for Breast Cancer support and fundraising. I mean to keep picking some up. I want to say it is pink lemonade flavor! Plus who can pass up a good cause! AV, will have one of your drinks please!

  13. I SAW THAT SALT!!!!!

That lime cake sounds wonderful - I printed the recipe. To me there's no such thing as too much lime.

This morning's paper had our pitiful food section in it - they should hire me! But there was an interesting article about how, with the bad economy, more people are eating at home. Only it turns out that a vast number of people actually have no idea how to cook! Between fast food, restaurants, take-out it appears that many Americans are lacking the basic skills to even make a recipe from a cookbook. And so there has been this resurgence of "Cooking 101" cookbooks where they have "dumbed down" culinary terminology. One of them was "creaming". I guess that people had no idea what it meant to "cream" butter and sugar.

    It's crazy!

  14. Wow! I had never thought of that but I bet people don't know how to cook. I don't cook elaborately cause its just me but I do know how to! I hope more people cook and teach their kids how to cook too! What a great thing to pass on to their kids. Betty and Wilma have no interest in learning!

  15. Hi WWM!!!! *waves*

  16. Willow is only interested in discovering the recipe for Lickitty!

Posted 2 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  17. Hi, GD!!!! She's an addict - it's Bobby and Milo's fault!!! She finished one whole Lickitty in just two days and didn't even share with her sister. It's shameful!

Posted 2 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  18. .... *breaks out cooler of Mikes' hard key lime lemonaide*....pass all around.....

.... I agree WWM, many are staying home in this economy and trying their hand at cooking!..... it's a good thing, but you're right, many don't know the "basics".......

  19. WWM, speaking as an ex-journo, if you would like to improve your paper's pitiful food section, why don't you suggest they hire you and send them a sample layout -- suggested recipes (credited if they come from somewhere else) and instrux, budget suggestions, handy tips for first-time cooks, review of your fave restaurant. I can only say, if they have a pitiful food section, with you in the area, they are not making the best use of their resources!

Of course, they may not be able to afford to pay you but I bet they'd want to hire you...

Oops, sorry, hi everybody, just peeking my head in, didn't mean to ignore you, sorry. But I suddenly saw this whole new career for WWM, starting off with newspaper, then her own website, then cookbooks and a TV show...

  20. Yay Willow!!!! :)

I'm so tired!!! I brought home either fleas or bed bugs from my dog-sitting stint this weekend and I'm now getting bit every night and have bites everywhere. I don't have a washing machine, so when I leave here, I'm stopping home to give Bobby his pill and pick up my linens and then heading to XBF's house to do laundry. Arrrrgh - maybe I'll nap while it washes!

Posted 2 years ago by GreatDane #

  21. Oh no, GD, still with the itching. When it's happened to me (and people think cuddling kittens is a no-risk job, tee hee), I spray the bed mattress with fly spray. Not pretty and smells awful but works... (Use one safe for humans and animals, obviously...)

  22. Hi WWM! I find that totally reasonable that many people are in the dark as to how to cook and all the terms and processes. You should start a cooking class in your area. =)

Posted 2 years ago by Karenopa #

  23. please hand me a whole pie.... my daughter is making a chocolate cake... than I am outside....sigh

Posted 2 years ago by opahall #

  24. I'd love to do that, JCAT! Unfortunately, I actually know the woman who does the food section! I would feel badly to try and replace her (but I think that I could do better).

Posted 2 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  25. Great idea, Karen. But if WWM scores the newspaper gig first, then people will be clamouring to come to her classes and she'll have free advertising!

Oh, WWM, that's too bad! What are the chances of you knowing her, that's a bummer!

Hmmm, perhaps you could suggest to her she needs a new specialist column on tips for first-time and learning cooks -- which you'd love to write if she doesn't have time... might help her to get more column inches...

  26. Opahall, is there any sign of your baby?

Posted 2 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  27. Oh, I just saw your other thread. I am so sorry and am praying that Gallo finds his way home soon.

Posted 2 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  28. no kitten yet... There are traps and food out for that booger....and I was about to take him to get chipped and snipped.... I had to cancel his appt.

Posted 2 years ago by opahall #

  29. Good evening, all. Opahall, I hope you find Gallo soon! :(

Posted 2 years ago by Bellantara #
