Lol! Sorry, Dee! :)
WWM, he's so handsome!!!!
Great pic, WWM!

What a hunk Mr. WWM is! Great pic! My ex-husband was a Marine in Viet Nam in the early years of the war; he never liked to talk about it, and was very upset when the war ended the way it ended..... He'd been out of the Marines for about five years when I met him.
I have two copies of the album Woodstock ~ several people brought over a bunch of records one night for a party at my place, and somehow, left their copy; I could never figure out who, so I just kept it, thinking whoever it was would give me a call to ask for it back. That never happened.... guess they didn't like the album much ;-)
Deb, can't believe you don't care for the Beatles!
LOL, Dee!!! I'm sorry but the image that immediately came to mind was Ralph Cramden (spelling ?) from the old show The Honeymooners. Of course, you are too young to even have a clue who that would be!
Mr. WWM doesn't talk much about Vietnam, either. All that I really know is where he was In-Country, what unit, that he was awarded three Bronze Stars and a few small details. He always said that there were some things that I just didn't need to know.
He was hunky! And to me he still is.

WWM, I have seen each of the 39 episodes of The Honeymooners a bunch of times...I even watched it when I was in grade school and it was in syndication. I love that show! And I was a big Jackie Gleason fan...a very interesting, complex guy. (I make fun of Tom about Ralph Kramden, too...haha!)
Am I a youngster here? I think so, although I am a baby boomer (1946-1964). Actually I did know that Ralph was the inspiration for Fred, although probably not back when I was watching those shows!

Wow, I didn't know that about Fred Flintstone! You are a veritable wealth of knowledge, Dee!
Kilroy, we are so hoping that we might be brought up in the spring for training, which would mean coming into NYC! We won't know for a while but our "turn" was supposed to be this year so we've sort of been promised that we will be in the next training.

What an awesome picture of Mr. WWM, Betty! Gosh, he' so debonair!!! And, it looks like he's standing next to Dean Martin!
I love the music from the Woodstock era. Years ago, we had a break-in at school and someone took my Forrest Gump cassette and left my tape player. I would've preferred them to take the player :)

LOL,FH - he does sort of look like Dean Martin! Top was quite a character. He loved to gamble and I guess he must have been pretty lucky because he seemed to win lots of money. It was against every regulation in the book to send cash home from Vietnam. But Top used to send his winnings to me (and I had never met him) with instructions to send them on to what seemed to be a never ending list of attractive women. I never asked but I told Mr. WWM and it always scared the poop out of me to open a letter from Top and find all of that cash! Mr. WWM didn't want to ask either, because Top was the best 1stSGT in the Division.
We've lost track of him, which is so sad.

I'm sure that you've done a Google search of him, right? Do you know his 'real' name?
Posted 2 years ago by FondaHonda #
*blush* We can't remember his last name for certain. Mr.WWM had two outstanding 1 SGT's and we think that we have "morphed" their names. We are the world's worst at names! I think his last name is Keeler, though.

Whoo-hoo! I'm not surprised you kept him, WWM, good score! :)
Vicki, I see MS has filled you in on hokey pokey ice cream, it was good back then! (My parents complain that it's not so good now, they make it in Oz instead of here in NZ and they say the hokey pokey bits aren't crunchy any more. It's been a while since I had any...)
You could make your own by making the hokey pokey recipe and chopping it up and sticking it in vanilla ice cream, that would be really good!
Wow, Mr. WWM! **whistles** He would have stopped me in my tracks and knocked my socks off! What is it about men in uniforms??? What a keeper, good looking and SO NICE TOO?

WWM, What an amazing Top! My ex-husband is also a Vietnam vet and I have many friends that are vets. God Bless them. Please tell Mr. WWM "WELCOME HOME" It can not be said enough! The vets were not treated well when they got home. I appreciate every single one of them. For those TDKers that were children during that time, it was crazy. Favor was against the war but many young me went, fought and did their duty. I love those vets! I am proud of those vets. I completely understand the "draw" to the uniform. It is hard to resist. Congrats and praise to you WWM for being a supportive, loving wife to a soldier. It is not an easy job. It was hard as I was trying to be a "flower child" here in Texas but had so many who went when they were called. I told my friends that I did not support what was going on but I would never abandon our "boys" . They were doing their job and I will always be proud. I will add you and Mr. WWM to my prayers for those who have served and are serving. I have a special day for that prayer. I live one block away from St. Mary's Catholic church which is right of the campus and on my way home. Even though I am not Catholic, once a month I stop by, light a candle and tell Our Creator how special they all are. Best wishes to both of you.
I was 17 and just about to start my senior year in high school. That was a great summer for me. I remember going to the beach a lot with my friends and just having loads of fun. I didn't hear anything about Woodstock while it was going on. Bizarrely, I found out about it because we have to read an article about it for a school English assignment. But I do love that album, and loved the movie as well. I too love the music from that era. I always felt sorry for the kids who grew up during the 70's because they had missed out on all that great music.

I was 2 and a half and I'd like to think I was no longer in nappies as MS suggested. I'm sure I was advanced for my age. I became a great fan of the hippie era and music later in life so maybe something on TV influenced me.

Thank you, Puddytat! I have always found it so touching that when one Vietnam vet meets another for the first time, they always say "Welcome Home". I guess because they never heard it back then.

WWM - Mr WWM does look very handsome in his uniform! And you are right - he is still a hunk! ;-)

*blush* Thanks, Rubia! And just where the heck have you been?????

I'm sorry, WWM! Things have been very crazy for me the last couple months. I have posted an update under 'Rubia Comes Up for Air... Briefly'. but I have missed everyone! I have poked my head in for a quick lurk most every day, but just didn't have the time/energy to post anything. I'll try to do better!
