If this poem opens up wounds that are still very fresh, I apologize. It gave me so much comfort when I lost Mr. Toes and I wanted to share it.
Poem For Cats
And God asked the feline spirit
Are you ready to come home?
Oh, yes, quite so, replied the precious soul
And, as a cat, you know I am most able
To decide anything for myself.Are you coming then? asked God.
Soon, replied the whiskered angel
But I must come slowly
For my human friends are troubled

Thank you for the poem, Squashasmommy. I have read it many time, but I do find it comforting right now.
Thanks to everybody for all the kind words and support. It is very difficult this morning as I do not have anything distracting me from the fact that she isn't here. Even school seems like it really doesn't matter that much anymore.

We talk a lot about the Rainbow Bridge and the verdant meadows. We haven't talked about the small river over which the bridge crosses. It rises from a spring not so far away. At it's source at the spring the river is salty and bitter as it is made of the tears that we cry over the loss of our beloved friends. As the water flows it touches smooth stones, sweet grass and fragrent flowers and is covered by gentle breezes so that by the time the water reaches the bridge it is pure and sweet and fresh. As our beloved friends cross the bridge and the purified water they become young, healthy and happy. When they go to the waters edge and drink from it, they do not taste the bitter tears we cried at their passing but the pure sweet love we felt for them during their lives. The river runs high today as we have added our tears to those of our friends. We cry for Mary and Anthony and their loss as we cry once again for those we each have lost from our lives. The river is babbling and laughing in greeting to Mama Kitty, saying cross over, be restored and abide until the time of reunion is at hand. Be at peace, be at peace, be at peace is whispered on the wind.

mary my heart goes out to you, within your poem you can feel the love you have for her, and always will be, i felt the same when my cat passed away, their love never leaves us and in everything we do touch or see they are always with us. my love and prayers go out to you xxxx
