Snowballs First Bath!

(3 posts)
  1. Well, I decided it was finally time to introduce Snowball to bathing, she will be 6 weeks tomorrow. I used the kitchen sink, and only put enough watr in it to come up just below her belly when she's standing up. When I first put her in the water she just stood there and looked at me and didn't have any trouble at all. I used a glass to pour water over her from the neck down and she was fine...when I started rubbing a little soap on her she meowed a little but was still ok. She only started to get agitated when I was rinsing her off, I started at the shoulders and worked back and she was ok until I got almost to her tail, then she started to get a bit jittery. I am hoping if I do this weekly she will get used to it and then won't give me a hard time when she gets older lol.

  2. Good job! A lot of people will say that giving your cat is completely unnecessary. Granted, I think it should be done on a case by case basis. If she shows signs of distress, then just talk to her and love on her. I give Melvin kisses on the nose when he would cry.

With lots of training, she'll have no problem with baths, but make sure you don't do it too often, as there are essential oils in their coats and washing too often can cause some pretty severe skin allergies.

But with luck, Snowball can end up like Melvin in the bath. He just climbs right in, nowadays. In fact, since it's been hot as can be here he's been jumping in the tub and asking me to bathe him!

  3. Wow, he takes it pretty well. Hope snowball gets that way. Although, if she doesn't, it's not a very big deal, she's short haired and purrfect in every other way lol. :P
