  1. Definite Grrrrr. How dare that Jerk. Did he think George was going to steal something?

  2. He's kind of a flake and I'm pretty sure he doesn't have animals. He does, however, know more about bicycles than I ever wanted to know :P

It will be chock full agenda and no rest for the weary till Thursday evening. I will have access as I bought a new IPhone last night (birthday gift to myself with bonus money). Have a good day all. I will be on the plane at 2:20pm. Hugs and purrs. I will be missing my cats the moment I leave home.

  6. Try and have SOME fun, SMM! Have a safe trip...and you know Sylvester and Mia are planning big parties while you're gone, don't ya? ;)

Bad bike guy! and what the heck...sniffing is nothing! Sheesh!

Kilroy, I read something and thought it might be interesting to you and hubby. Murray's Cheese, in New York City, has classes. I guess they teach you about different cheeses? Anyhoo, it mentioned cheesemonger Nora Singley. The August issue of Real Simple magazine.

    Hi everyone!

  7. Thanks for the tip, Linda! (I love this group). I checked them out, and they even have some classes that are wine & cheese tastings, that could be fun. A little pricey, but I'll run it by Mr. K.

  8. DO I SMELL SALTED BUTTER?????????

Just peeking in while taking a break from housecleaning to have a cup of tea and check in with TDK. *stops momentarily and screams "HAZEL!!!!!!!"*

Mr. WWM and I went for a 33.5 mile bike ride this morning and I didn't fall once!!! AND - I found $17 just laying in the middle of a road! Mr. WWM rescued a turtle who was stranded against a curb on a very busy street. But he told me that we could not bring her home :-(

*sigh* I guess I should go back to work..... *hiss*

  9. Well, I got the cat's food and water situated, packed my clothes and showered and dressed with time to spare. Early this morning when I got the luggage out, Mia came to check things out. When I got out of the shower Mia wanted to cuddle. She was extra loving so it as though she knew I was going somewhere. I was sad to leave them. So here I sit at the airport already missing them.

  13. Have a great trip to Vegas!
PM, I'm glad Garbo is doing well. (((Garbo and PM)))

I don't remember if I mentioned the guy from the tennis tournament who called out of the blue on Friday? I only ever see the guy that one week a year and all of a sudden, he called and talked about how I do dog-sitting and he may have some dog-sitting for me. Then he mentioned that he has pictures from the tournament that he wants to give me and asked when we can meet. I was speechless and he suggested picking me up for lunch on Sunday. I ended up agreeing.
He called and left a message and cancelled because he had to babysit. I was relieved because something struck me as kind of weird. He called me a few times on Sunday and a couple of times today but I didn't answer.
Then he sent me an email (didn't know he had my email address, but then again, he got access to my pet-sitting page without knowing I pet-sit, so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised). The email said he hopes I'm not upset he had to cancel our "mini-date". He asks what I'm doing tomorrow and suggests that he can come over and bring Chinese food and we can have an impromtu picnic - saki optional.

This guy is at least 70 and married! ANd I don't know what the heck he's thinking!!!!
I'm not sure what to do, because I have to see him every year for the tournament so I don't want it to become awkward (well, it already is!). I've always liked the guy, but certainly not in a picnic'ing at my house on a date kind of way!!!!!

Posted 7 months ago by GreatDane #

  14. OMG, GD, that is awkward. You might have to tell him you don't 'mini-date' married men! Although I am wondering if maybe he and his wife just split and that's why he's pursuing you. As you say, what is he thinking?

Posted 7 months ago by jcat #

  15. Actually, a friend of mine is friends with the guy's wife. I called her and brought it up - there's no split! :(

Posted 7 months ago by GreatDane #

  16. Yikes GD! Well my suggestion sit him down and explain jsut friendship or nothing!

Well still in stress and worry wart mode my Mystie is keeping me hoping! Check out her morning vet visit thread!

Posted 7 months ago by Momma to 2 MaineCoons #

  17. Oh, Ange, please don't worry, I just checked the thread and it sounds like Mystie's going to be fine -- she's just a little rambunctious! I hope she heals extra-fast and then you can stop worrying -- well, I guess you won't ever do that, but not worry quite so much.

GD -- eeek! Is he horrendously rich and do you want a sugar daddy? ;-) Cos if not, then the words, 'I'm sorry, I don't go out with married men' would seem to cover it. What IS he thinking?

Posted 7 months ago by jcat #

  18. .... Prayers for Mystie, for quick healing......

Hubbs and I had a wonderful day today with Son.....(who leaves tomorrow to go back to UF)..... first we went into town, to have his tires looked at.... turned out he needed FOUR new ones!!!.... but let me say, up here in this little country town, I paid about half of what it cost me the last time we did tires!... these people are so nice, and did it all - tires, allignment, and a good check over..... at least now I won't worry, with him driving back 10 hrs tomorrow!....

... then we drove up to Kingsport TN, (only about an hour north)... there we visited a beautiful little park that has a natural wild life preserve and a really cool planatairum....... we took a barge ride on a beautiful lake, and the lady that drove the barge ride was the "wolf trainer".....she hand raised and bottle fed many of the wolves, and they "know" her like a mamma...... she said "let me see if I can call them for you to hear".... then she let out this howl, that I swear was a real wolf's howl, if I hadn't been standing right there witnessing it..... and sure enough, from across the river, they started howling back!... it was really amazing!!!... then we got to go to the wolf pen, and watch her feed them - I asked her what they ate, and she said "road kill".... this is a state sponsored rescue, so the state road workers that must pick up and dispose of "road kill" will bring the "freshest" ones to the preserves for the wild animals to eat.... when there's not enough of that, she feeds them "zoo" meat - (sadly) ground horse meat!....... really got an education there!......

... just got home a little while ago, and was please to find Abby asleep on the back of the couch, and Cuddles asleep in her "bowl"...... (and Cuddles used her box), so life is good!......

  19. Hey AV sounds so cool! I love wolves! I am so envious!

Posted 7 months ago by Momma to 2 MaineCoons #

  20. It was really cool!... they are such beautiful, elegant animals - and really DO look like dogs.... but don't be fooled - they can be VERY deadly!!!!!

Posted 7 months ago by AV #

  21. They also had bobcats.... also very beautiful!....... MS, if you're still around, I bet that's what Airy saw that day!....... they had a map of the US, that showed the areas of the country where they were, and Calif. was definitely on the list!....... they also showed the difference between a lynx and a bobcat - the bobcat is in the lynx family, but smaller.......

Posted 7 months ago by AV #

  22. heheheh I love lynx and bobcats and cougars too. But Wolves hold my heart. Loving packs of extended family that works together for survival. Yes they can be dangerous but then so cna an elephant or a hippo or a domestic dog if provoked!

Posted 7 months ago by Momma to 2 MaineCoons #

  23. ... you're absolutely right!.... it's fascinating to me how they can look so calm and "tame".... but they are not domesticated animals, and I really like this preserve, because they go out of their way to make sure the animals live as much as possible "in the wild" as they would normally....... in other words, they don't make pets out of them..... they respect their lifestyle, but make sure they have a safe and secure environment in which to live......they had all sorts of things - a beautiful avaiary (sp?) with owls, hawks, flacons, and other rapters..... a racoon sanctuary... a deer park....a large turtle haven, that WWM would have loved!... a beaver island - really most every kind of animal that would naturally live in those parts of the country..... and they had all kinds of plaques that told each animal's story - many were victums of being hit by cars..... some were "rescues" from people that had found them as babies, and tried to domesticate them, but weren't educated or prepared to raise an exotic or wild animal...... some of the birds were injured from shottings, but had somehow managed to fly far enough away from the shooter, and then were found by a nice person that brought them to the rescue........ it was a very enjoyable day - and of course, Son, who is a MAJOR animal lover, was in "hogs heaven"!.......
