  1. Good morning (it is still morning here - just) the café is now open. Tea, coffee, juice, hot and cold milk, mimosas, full English breakfast, croissants and pastries, freshly baked bread rolls and baguettes, fresh fruit, yoghurt - you name it, it's here waiting for you along with a selection of cuddlable kitties.

  2. Good morning PM, thinking about heading to bed here but must have a cup of Chamomile tea first to aid the sleep. May I please have the smallest shyest kitty to cuddle. How's it all going at your place today?

  4. Morning, PM, MS and CM. MS, I'm sorry, I thought you had already gone to bed; I have been doing some editing and I saw you closed the cafe. CM, were you able to find out if your friend was all right?

  5. Morning CM, Ohhhh, hot and humid, haven't had that for so long that it sounds nice. Give me a few months and I'll be complaining about hot and humid. we've got slightly warmer weather and its lighter earlier at either end of the day now. Yay, Spring is just around the corner.
I hope Grandma can have Maddie for the night, they'll have lots of fun and it will be lovely for you and Wayne too.

  6. What's in a full English Breakfast?

Morning everyone! I too would like a shy kitten to cuddle and play with here at my desk. :-)

Yup, humid over here too CM. I don't like feeling sticky!

  7. Hi jcat and Siobhan
lol MS..don't worry when it's 12 feet of snow here and freezing, I will complain about that too :)
Siobhan, I think a full english breakfast has sausage, bacon, tomatoes, baked beans, eggs..could be something else I am missing too....

jcat..I couldn't get a hold of Carrie and I didn't get a chance to contact our high school friend, but he called my best friend in California, Devona. This is what she emailed me
    Hey my friend,
Ken called me cuz I guess you weren't able to give him a call. All I can say is Wow! Apparently Carrie has been on a downward spiral since she left rehab and it's pretty ugly up there right now. She won't let Chuck in the house and the kids don't want anything to do with her. Chuck and Ken talked for about an hour on Friday cuz Chuck doesn't know what to do. Samantha and Carrie got in a fist fight about a week ago and I guess Alex doesn't really talk to her. Sam takes care of the house and Chuck gives her money to buy groceries and everything, from what Ken says even though Chuck is wierd he has really stepped up to the plate taking care of them. Sooo, Ken is in the same thinking we are, all you can really do is listen but she doesn't want help, and so there is really nothing we can do for her. I will call you on my way to work this a.m.(you're already in bed;)
Ken will send you the house number if you don't have it.
Love ya and will talk to you soon

Samantha is Carrie's daughter and Alex is her son...Chuck is the guy who they live with and Carrie has a "relationship" with.
So yea...big time issues that she is hiding from her friends I guess. It's so sad. I am still worried and scared for her.

  8. Hi, Siobhan, not sure that PM is still here. I think that a full English is bacon, eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, baked beans, sausages, fried bread, toast, butter and marmalade. It can also be grilled rather than fried. Have I left anything out, does anyone know?

  9. Jcat, didn't see any posts from you and assumed you had gone to bed, so I closed the NS office. Oops!

  10. Holey Moley, that's a full meal deal, indeed!

Sniff sniff, I didn't get any fuzzy cuddlers last night. I missed my Hermes!

Posted 2 years ago by Siobhan #

  11. Oh, CM, that sounds terrible. I will keep her in my thoughts, and her family too. It must be terrible for her kids. I am glad that the guy who lives with them is giving them some support.

You beat me to the full English :)

  12. awww Siobhan....Why no Hermes??
I am off to jump in the shower..Maddie is up but Abbie's still asleep thank goodness...She's going on 12 hours of sleep without so much of a peep :)

  13. MS, I got there 47 seconds after you closed it so I did my editing instead. If I had thought about it I might have known you were still lurking but I really wanted to get one of my papers finished tonight... Still have some footnotes to check, yuck, but I can do that and post at the same time...

Siobhan, that's no good, what is the point of having fuzzbutts if they won't cuddle...?

Catch you later, CM, have a great day with Grandma!

  14. Jcat, I think you left out the blood pudding.

    Posted 2 years ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

  15. Eeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, blood pudding! You are right, I did! Siobhan, if you are verrrrry lucky, you can also have links of black pudding (which is really blood pudding, or blood sausage).

  16. Morning to all in the cafe! Happy Tuesday, sleepy again today. It is sooooo humid all my papers on my desk are curling up! I think we are to get more thunderstorms today. Off to do some work but before I go could I get some croissants, beans and fruit?? Thanks!

  17. I've finished my chamomile tea now and about to head to bed, then I discovered the ants have come back inside. Arrrrrrrrgh! It must be going to rain again. I still have hundreds of them munching up ant bait on the veranda post out front, but I have no idea where these ones are hiding.
See you all tomorrow, have a great day or in Jcat's case sleep well tonight and headbonks to Libby and Jasper from the occupant of the beanbag. Night all.

  18. Night MS...
Ahhhhh nice and clean now...I love that feeling. :)

Posted 2 years ago by cricketsmama #

  19. Nighty-night, MS, sleep tight, headbonks back to HRH from the silver tabby gang, may you and Mr MS and Shadz all have sweet dreams!

Oh, no, those pesky varmint ants again. They are worse than zombies (see Rubia's zombie thread!) -- harder to seek out and destroy...

Hi, MC! *Waves furiously.* You always zip off to work so fast!

  20. Good morning everyone! Hope everyone is well. I need some coffee.

  21. *passes coffee to LB*
    Morning!

  22. Abbie's up...will be back later...

  23. I think Hermes just liked sitting by the screen at the back door better than the idea of being in a COOL bedroom with Meowmy. Silly cat.

We had at problems too. Finally got a spray that the husband sprayed all around the foundation, windows on the first floor, doorways... it has to be a new bottle every year. He used some three-year old product earlier this spring that didn't stop the little buggers one bit.

  24. Good morning, all! Another full day of work and then lots to do this evening. I'd rather just go to bed and nap. Better give me something for breakfast that will keep me alert for the day.

  25. Bay leaves...Ants hate bay leaves...if you find their entrance point, put bay leaves there. We did that and boom..no more ants...Ours always came in the spring and it was horrible..now we might maybe find one.

  26. Good morning/evening! I'm in for a semi-stressful day so I would like to start by cuddling a small fuzzy orangie. I dreamed of cats and kittens and spiders and scorpions, oh my! No, I didn't eat late, just stayed up and watched the Giants win their first preseason game with no time left - woo-hoo!
The best dream was of the little orangie that hubby caught. Next thing I knew, I was cuddling the little guy, hmmm. I don't think I will talk about the other dream.
Hope everyone has a decent day - I'm off to put some mineral ice on my sore neck.

  27. Sounds like a mixed night, Joan, hope your day goes better than you think it's going to! Morning, LK!

CM, bay leaves is a great tip and you just reminded me I need to buy some more...

  28. Morning, all.

    CM, I'm sorry about your friend. It's awful to watch someone you care about self-destructing and not be able to do anything. But the fact is that you really can't, not until she decides she wants help. {{{CM and Carrie}}}

I kind of landed in the d-o-g house with Mr. K yesterday, so I would also like to snuggle with a nice purry kitten this morning. I was cleaning cat hair off the bottom of the kitchen chairs' legs, and I knocked over Mr. K's bike, which was leaning against the table. Now there's a big scratch in our hardwood floor and Mr. K is p.o.'d. And to top it off, in trying to catch the bike before it hit the ground, I dropped a chair on my foot, which now has a huge bruise. Sometimes being a klutz really stinks.

Posted 2 years ago by Kilroy #

  29. Oh, Kilroy, that's too bad, it was an accident and hardwood floors get scratches, it's unavoidable. And to bruise your foot on top of that... Here!
*Pushes the snuggliest purriest kitten through the wormhole to Kilroy.*

  30. Good morning, everyone! I haven't been to the cafe in some time and I am awake too early (for me) this morning so I decided to see what the talk is about only to see that I missed a whole month! But I know that today is NOT September 18th! Much as I would like it to be, after all that is my and Richard's anniversary. And more problems with ants - I was still scrolling and reading when I saw CM suggesting what I was gong to suggest - bay leaves. This has got to be the best non-toxic solution around. We put them out when we first moved into this house because we had ants coming up through the carpet. The ants couldn't leave fast enough!
