  1. My family and I had recently taken in a Kitten that was in the street and almost run over. She is named Smokie, all black cat, right now her eyes are dark blue and open. I am guessing she is three or four weeks old. At first we haven't had any problems with Smokie. She is a chubby little girl (when she came in to the family, she was skin and bones.) Well, she got Constipated twice, and last night she got a Cold, she hasn't pooped as often as she should. We've called Vets (for we cannot afford one at the moment), none of them contacted us back on what we can do for her. We checked websites, we have been doing everything they mentioned. Massage, use warm water gently on her genitals, and etc...

She was doing fine before the Constipation started. Is there anything that can be done to help her? Any home remedies or something to give her to help?

  2. Hi Huskymix! Thanks for rescuing that little baby! What are you feeding her? Sometimes if you're feeding the powdered KMR the kitten's get constipated at first.
    Welcome!

  5. That's good, she might just need a little more fluid added to it until she poos. Some others will know more about the amount to add as they are raising orphan kittens too.

  6. Maybe you could try mixing the formula a little thinner. I read also that a teensy weensy bit of cod liver oil can help. It said 1/4 tsp. per 5 lbs. of weight which means that for a very light weight kitty perhaps only a drop or two in the formula. Keep us posted and watch for other people who will come on later on in the evening as well. We have alot of experience on this site and people who can help you get your answers. Good Luck! =)

  7. Thank you for rescuing this poor little baby.

Kittens that don't/won't poop is a common discussion here. If you click on the pink tags in the upper right hand corner, you'll see the previous threads and will get some good ideas on how to help your little girl.

  8. Hey guys,

thought I would update. Smokie seems to be getting better. I added a lil more water to her formula, Smokie is more active and playful than she was earlier. Her weight seems to increase again.
She was purring just a moment ago, she had not done that for almost 48 hours. Right now she is sleeping on my lap on my bed while posting this.
Thank you all, you're all very helpful unlike some here in my area.

We called our main vet, they wanted a couple hundred dollars from us..we said no to them. We called another vet in a different city, they were suppose to call back to give us advice, they never did.

Thank you all so much on this forum. I am glad I came here for advice. The only thing we need to get her to do is Poop. She doesn't seem to grasp that yet. We did the method that I shown my mom on the video bout Brutus time to the vet, she farted, but no poop. (sigh) We won't give up hope.

I mostly wanted to let you all know that she seems to be getting better and a lot more cheerful now. Thanks again. I'll keep you all updated, and I will try to get pictures out ASAP...I need to charge my camera since my phone refuses to send pictures to emails.

  9. Fart is good. It means things are moving in the right direction.
