  1. Hi, I'm new here. I found this forum while searching for some kitten related information.

I've had cats for most of my adult life, and had a very sad day just over a month ago when my beloved Riley had to be put to sleep. He was 10 years old and was the best cat I've ever had. He was my baby, and I do still miss him.

To help with the grieving process and focus on the positives, we adopted a cute little kitten that we ended up naming The Mighty Diesel Thunderpurr :) We call him Diesel. He earned the name for being fearless and for having a very loud purr. He's nearly 14 weeks old now, and is absolutely adorable.

Here's a photo of him from yesterday:

I'm enjoying these forums, what a neat group of cat lovers!

  5. Hi, HSGR, welcome to TDK! I'm sorry to hear about Riley, *that* decison is never, ever easy, but most of ten the kindest thing we do as pet owners. He was obviously well loved in his life :o)

And as for Diesel - ! I love his full name, that has to be one of the best ever. What a cutie! I'm going off to check all their full profiles now.

  9. Welcome HSGR. Very sorry about Riley. Diesel Thunderpurr is a beautiful baby and it honors Riley when you adopt and love another feline. All those babies need loving homes.

  13. Thanks, everyone :) It's always nice to join a group of fellow cat-lovers. No matter our beliefs in any other area, the love of cats is a wonderful connection and knows no boundaries :)

The decision to have Riley put to sleep was so difficult for me, but I know it was the best for him. I like to think of him running around doing kitty things in heaven, no longer in pain, and that someday when I get there he'll be part of my little corner and I'll be able to hold him, hear his sweet purrs and meows and smell his wonderful smell again as I bury my nose in his neck. It's hard to believe it's only been a month and a half since he was put to sleep.

It was fun naming Diesel :) My husband and I were looking for name ideas and ran across an article listing some of the best cat names. All the names were fantastic and inspired us to be wildly creative with Diesel's name.

I'm looking forward to sharing fun stories about Diesel, Blossom and memories of Riley.
