3 weeks ago, I gave my 4 month old kitten a deworming medicine prescribed by my vet, now, he seems to be loosing weight but he eats well and is very active. Is that normal?

I'm not sure of all of the side affects associated with deworming but I do know that weakness is one due to dehydration because they often get the runs after taking the meds. I think You should probably contact the vet who gave your cat the medication and ask him/her about it. Safest bet.

Kat you need to contact your vet. He might need some Sub Q fluids fast.

thanks for the advice. I did contact my vet and he prescribed cefalexin 1.5 ml to my kitten. I hope this works... anyway, i have another problem, my 4 week old kitten is vomiting milk after feeding, i talked to my vet and prescribed plasil. the vomiting stopped but now she's sleeping all the time. i'm worried.

Your 4 week old needs to be seen again. The lethargy is a scary thing and it worries me as well. By 4 weeks she should be pretty active. I'm not a vet, but I do foster orphans and older kittens as well. The sleepiness COULD be a side-effect from the medication, but I could not readily find information on the drug you indicated. I would call the vet as soon as you can and check, if not then get her in if you possibly can - kittens can go downhill quickly.

Cephalexin is an antibiotic of the group of cephalosporins of the so-called first generation. It is used to treat infections of bacterial respiratory tract (pneumonia, sore throat), skin, bones, ears (otitis media) and the urinary tract. It may be useful in cases of patients with hypersensitivity to penicillin.
Metoclopramide (INN) (pronounced /ˌmɛtəˈklɒprəmaɪd/) is an antiemetic and gastroprokinetic agent. Thus it is primarily used to treat nausea and vomiting, and to facilitate gastric emptying in patients with gastroparesis.
This is all I could find on either medication.

It strikes me that using a drug to stop vomiting in a tiny kitten is suppressing the symptom. The question should be, what is causing the vomiting. If there is a bug in the kitten's system which needs to get out, vomiting is one way for the body to do that. Suppressing the vomiting is probably not the answer. Your vet needs to examine the kitten. I am surprised that s/he prescribes over the phone without seeing either of your kitties.
