  1. Yes, you pledge. What happens is you go in groups of girls to each of the different houses. You meet, socialize and then make a list of the one's you like the most. Then the sorority also makes a list of the girls they liked. Then lists are compared and the one's that agree are a "match". You then go back again and do certain activities (some illegal at times) and eventually you have to choose just one and focus on it. From that list they (the girls already living there) pick their final candidates. When I was in college there were some pretty bad things that some of the houses did or asked students to do. I was amazed. One boy was asked to go on a roof at the house, he fell off and died. Another task has some of the guys "rob" a store. Not all are like that for sure, but some have a really bad reputation. They are good social networks and do many good things for the community. They just know how to party for sure! I know as I went to many a party at them. I pledged and was accepted into Alpha Phi Omega which was a service fraternity with no house. I was sworn to secrecy but even they asked us to do some questionable things to test our loyality to the group. I am amazed at the things I did for the group when I was pledging.

I'm glad the kittens are doing well, too. They're lucky to have found you!

I had a good day at work this morning - set a new personal record and got 5 appointments today - yay!!!!!
The boss wants us all to go out tomorrow night to celebrate the contracts I and the one guy at work got, but I haven't been able to get the night off from the gym. I really wanted to go, too :(

  3. PM, I LOVE your new avatar, who it that? Beautiful cat!.....

..... KK, Kilroy and MC have pretty well explained sororities and fraternities.... some of the "questionable" things MC was referring to was called "hazing", and for the most part has been eliminated - Universities today are extremely strict about asking "pledges" to do stupid pranks, it got out of hand 20 or so years ago, so thankfully is not much of a problem today.....

... my Son didn't think he wanted to join a fraternity when he first went to UF... he thought they were just a bunch of "beer drinking party boys".... but turns out, he found a fraternity, that is one of the oldest in the nation, that has a prestigious list of alumni (past Presidents and many major political figures), and focuses much on academics and non-predijous philosophies...... his fraternity absolutely does not believe in hazing, and in fact, has an "open initiation"..... most are done as "secret sociaties"......

... so, as MC said, each is different, and offers a social, academic, philanthropist opportunities.........
