My new avatar is Pickle, the latest addition to our family. She is 12 weeks old and semi feral. I got her from the Wood Green Animal Shelter yesterday. She's very scared and spitty at the moment, but she did come out from under the bed to play with me today. She cannot be handled at all yet, but she will come and sniff my fingers if I am patient enough. She is gorgeous!

Now that she is out of her cat basket (I took the avatar picture before releasing her into the bedroom) you will have to wait until she is a lot more confident 2BP.

She has such beautiful eyes. I hope it is no time before she becomes a snuggle bunny!

They have seen each other, Kilroy, but I won't start to introduce them properly for a while. Pickle is so timid....

She just needs a little time, she'll be snuggling in your lap before you know it.
I love her name, too. MCW will be tickled pink :) I wonder what it is that leads people to name cats Pickle (isn't there a comic strip with a cat named Pickle?). Maybe it's just one of those imponderables of the universe. After all, why would anyone name a cat George?

In England a naughty child is often called a "pickle", and when things get in a mess it's called getting into a pickle, so Pickle is actually an obvious name for a mischievous kitten. Once she feels safe I'm sure Pickle will live up to her name!

She certainly IS a beauty--she is young enough that she will lose her feral notions.

I should love to stroke her too - but no chance for a while!

That is EXACTLY why we named our Pickle Pickle!!! PM, if yours lives up to her name as well as ours does...you're in for a lot of fun! She's very pretty, I look forward to seeing more pictures when she lets you :o)

Welcome to Pickle! I laughed at your description of the use of the word 'pickle' - I used to call miniKK 'pickle' when she was little. I'm looking forward to hearing how she settles in with you and Garbo.

Oh PM, what a gorgeous Pickle! They don't sell Pickles like that in my market. I know for sure that she is going to be a very precious new member of your family. I hope she will settle down and settle in with you and your family soon! I too, can't wait to see more pix of her when she lets you! Welcome Home Pickle!

Oh PM I'm so happy for you. She is gorgeous. I never really cared much for black cats, but my TDK fam has some gorgeous inky boys and girls.

One of my favorite books when I was young was Esther Averill's "The Fire Cat". His name was Pickles, and yes he was a very naughty cat who learned to be good. I laugh about that book now, because the one person who cares about Pickles and helps him out is a lady named Mrs. Goodkind. (She apparently takes care of all the local ferals and strays). I have said, and my faily agrees, that I have become Mrs. Goodkind!
P.S. She really does have great eyes.

Love Pickle's expression, once she settles in I can only imagine the fun she will have with Garbo and you.

She has been playing "Mousie" with me this morning, but I still can't get near enough to touch her. She did sniff my fingers a couple of times this morning, though. I also slept in a T-SHirt last night and have left it in the tiny bedroom for her to sleep on or at least play with.
At the moment every time I come into the room she scoots underneath the wheeled drawer under my daughter's bed. She has to spread herself like jam across the floorboards in order to squeeze under, so a few more good meals and she won't be able to use that escape route any more. LOL.Posted 2 years ago by Pollys_Mum_in_UK_2605 #
