I got a new kitten today!

If a cat hasn't ever eaten raw as a kitten they don't imprint it as food. mikey is 6 and he is the process of making "the switch". currently he gets only canned food and only three times a day. if i smear canned food over a chunk of raw meat he will lick it off the meat which i know doesn't seem like much but he touched the meat! that is what counts, he may end up recongnizing it as food after all. a few times he has actually "accidently" gotten some raw meat in his mouth and ate it; however he doesn't know i saw him, i'm sure if he knew i saw he would have spit it back out. kittens take to raw really easily and adult cats are a bit more work (or a lot more but it depends on the cat). the farm cats all recongnized it as food probably because their mothers would catch raw for them in the form of mice, rabbits, and pigeons.
