Hubby and I drove to Crater Lake in southern Oregon today on our way to Ashland, Oregon. Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the US. It was formed when the top blew off a mountain during a volcanic eruption. It formed a caldera that filled with rain and snowmelt. It is nearly 2,000 feet deep and is the purest body of water in the world. It is an incredibly deep blue. You will see me in one photo, hubby in another and a furry ground squirrel (couldn't resist!) in another. The big building is the old, but recently renovated, lodge that overlooks the lake.

Thanks, BC. The ground squirrels scamper about everywhere in that area. They are very entertaining. :)

I feel very lucky to live close enough to Crater Lake to go there once in a while. It's funny how we often overlook spectacular places in our own "back yard." I've lived in Oregon all my life and only been to Crater Lake four times.
Thanks, TF! I have lost weight over the past year doing Weight Watchers. :)
