   I can't tell for certain by reading the article but it sounds like she may not have known the dog was in the back seat. It says her husband put the dog in the car, but not that he told her he had done so. If that's the case (she really didn't know) she must be doubly devastated.

   We had a very similar case here in the UK (very near where I live) just recently - two police dogs were left in a hot car by their handler and died. Tragic.

   It says her husband put the dog in the car--she didn't know he was in there. We had a similar case here in AZ--a police officer left his K-9 dog in the car overnight--he was convicted of animal abuse and I believe he went to jail for it.
