I got such a shock tonight. I had taken miso out in the garden on her harness for a sniff and a wander, as I often do as night falls, because she loves the night smells. She's well used to her 'walking jacket' now - it's a very secure 'coat' with two fasteners around her middle, and one around her neck, which is attached down to the body flap too. The lead clasp is between her shoulder blades. Anyway she got spooked, not sure why, maybe the dog next door barking, and she SOMEHOW wriggled backwards out of the harness. She dashed towards the back door, but I had shut it because sumi was in the sunroom. My garden is pretty long, and FULL of small trees and plants, and you just wouldn't see my lovely panther in the dark. But my gorgeous clever girl did a sort of loop, with eyes wild, very uncertain and scared, while I went as fast as I could to the door, trying not to scare her at the same time. I gathered up the tiny minx inside, and opened the door wide, calling miso gently. Meanwhile the big dog next door was going crazy, as he heard me calling her. But my brave miso came on, oh so slowly, but surely, towards the door, and the light. And in she came! I was so shaken and shocked! I praised her sooo much, and gave her several treats! Clever girl! She was so happy to be inside! Now I need to check that harness!

Good girl Miso!!
It's a pain having big dogs next door isn't it? We have an alsation whose favourite pastime is staring at the top of our shed, waiting for a cat to appear..mind you, their favourite pastime is making faces at the poor dog when she's safely inside & behind a window!!

I know MCW, it is a pain, though Zebby is a sweet dog, and his hoomans are terrific neighbours. On the other side we have a very sweet elderly couple and their special daughter, but they have a dog too. He's a nasty little Jack Russell - now I know some JRs can be sweet and cuddly, but this one is a real scratcher/barker, and hasn't an affectionate bone in his body. My only comfort is, maybe dogs either side would make scaredy miso stay within her garden walls, if I do decide to let the girls outside. I'm having a glass of good red wine right now! pheeeeeeewwww!!

Abbigaleviolet, this is the walking jacket miso has - http://www.catwalkingjacket.com/home.php?page_id=11. I ordered it from the States, and so far she's loved it, and it's been very secure. I think I must have loosened the neck part, which allowed her wriggle her head out backwards, then she was able to walk FORWARDS out of the body wrap. But I really like the look of the kittyholster! It looks so snug, and I'm thinking of a certain tiny madam, who will be wanting to follow her big sister for garden walks very soon, but is too small to fit miso's jacket just yet. Thank you for the link!
