NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Most hot dog places don't even carry ketchup as a condiment! Not even for your fries! Only various "shades" of mustard! It is a cardinal sin to put ketchup on a dog!

MC, ketchup is EVIL, except on top of meatloaf. I'm happy with a hot dog with stewed onions, sauerkraut, and brown mustard. I remember about 15 years ago (before our relationship disintegrated into nuclear winter), my mother and I got us some hot dogs at a hot dog stand outside a hospital my grandmother was in after some sort of procedure (I forget if it was surgery or something else). I don't remember what she got, but the look on her face was priceless when she saw what I got: a hot dog with stewed onions, sauerkraut, and brown mustard. She looked at me as if I asked the hot dog man to put Uranium 235 and a book of matches on the tube steak. She asked me, "Don't you get heartburn from eating that?" Heartburn? What's that when you're in your early 20s?

Hot dogs are a staple food for me now that my earnings have been cut down to less than half after I quit working with the ditz. I can get a package of turkey hot dogs and a package of buns at the 99ยข store for only $2. For another $2 I can pick up a package of tortilla chips and a container of half decent salsa or a container of flavored dip that kind of reminds me of ranch dip (it's supposed to actually be ranch dip, but what to you expect for a dollar?). If I want something semi-nutritious to go with them I can grab a 10-pound bag of potatoes for another dollar. Fried potato slices and hot dogs actually make a decent meal.

I have only had Orange Julius version of the chicago dog but I like it. I'll have to check out the link as soon as I find my defibrillator--I have to take exception with HM for saying eggs should be boiled. Even an egg should be gently cooked.

OOH Vicki, now you are talking! YUM. TO all who were wondering, I do love a good Chicago dog in the Chicago style. Before my migration north I had no idea ketchup was a total no-no in relation to hot dogs. I will only do that at home. I learned a lot about pizza too, my favorite being a Chicago deep dish with tomatoes, spinach, onions, and spicy italian sausage. LOVE LOVE LOVE that! There is a restaurant my sister and I will go to that we have to dodge gunshots and go in thru the back kitchen door to get to but it is worth almost literally dying for!

Not in potato salad or tuna, CTR - lol.
Ahhh Vienna Beef dogs, they don't have those here, but there used to be a place in the tunnel 20+ plus years ago called Sam's Brooklyn Deli that used Vienna Beef dogs. The smell in that place would have your mouth watering and your knees week whenever you were in the vicinity. It would take us 30 minutes to get there and 30 minutes to get back, but their dogs were AMAZING. We used to go every Friday. It was worth it.

This might sound gross to you guys but it was heaven to me! M's friend came over last week and wrapped lil smokies and cut up all beef hotdogs in bacon..... gasp ... sprinkled a heavy portion of brown sugar over them.... go ahead faint! ..... and baked them so the sugar carmelized it into one salty sweet hunk of meaty deliciousness! you can dip them in whatever, I tried BBQ sauce and steak sauce mixed. Yeah I know I'm probably making you guys sick I am not a healthy eater! and I made thin sliced potatoes baked with Tony's seasoning on top. I was in Heavn. I love Hot dogs of just about any kind though.... And bacon wrapped around anything, even more bacon, is a perfect meal for me!
