Happy Caturday all! Me, I am so nervous, I have to take the girls to the V-E-T this morning. They are soooooooooo difficult to catch! They are like two oiled pigs. Like AV, I have already put some Valium on their morning food and they are avoiding it like the plague. I already have the travel carrier in the tub and the girls are going out of their way to avoid the bathroom. I feel like such a bad meowmy as they squeal, cry, scratch and swat me. Please, say a prayer for me, I always cry when I have to catch them. Today is also my mom's 76th Purrday! Ok, well for eats, I am too concerned about catching the girls so we have some yummy Cracker Barrel Catering. Have a great day! AV, travel safe. I will be back later. Also, Kilroy did you win powerball??? ONE tix was sold in NEW YORK!

They are really really really nervous when they go! They know what the words "vet" "carrier" and "kitty doctor" mean for sure and dive into the basement and hide in the deepest darkest corners. They are 'fraidy cats and I think they had to have been abused before I got them because of how easily scared they are.

So I am a little p*ssed off right now. Just reviewing last night's mail. Got a letter from my insurance that 3 days in the hospital was "excessive" and I am having to pay 100% of my last day in the hospital. Right at $5000. Excessive??? For BRAIN SURGERY!?!? Ok, time to go to the bathroom and try to catch the girls! Wish me luck!

MC...file an appeal. Call your insurance company talk to the agent, then if that doesn't work, file an appeal. Get your medical records, doctor letters whatever. Insurances play lots of games. I used to be an insurance medical biller, so i had to jump through hoops to get things paid sometimes, but I got them paid.

The older I get, the more I enjoy Saturday mornings. Perhaps it's the quiet solitude that comes with being the first to rise, or maybe it's the unbounded joy of not having to be at work. Either way, the first few hours of a Saturday morning are most enjoyable.
A few weeks ago, I was shuffling toward the garage with a steaming cup of coffee in one hand and the morning g paper in the other. What began as a typical Saturday morning turned into one of those lessons that life seems to hand you from time to time. Let me tell you about it:
I turned the dial up into the phone portion of the band on my ham radio in order to listen to a Saturday morning swap net. Along the way, I came across an older sounding chap, with a tremendous signal and a golden voice. You know the kind, he sounded like he should be in the broadcasting business. He was telling whom-ever he was talking with something about 'a thousand marbles.' I was intrigued and stopped to listen to what he had to say...
' Well, Tom, it sure sounds like you're busy with your job. I'm sure they pay you well but it's a shame you have to be away from home and your family so much. Hard to believe a young fellow should have to work sixty or seventy hours a week to make ends meet. It's too bad you missed your daughter's 'dance recital' he continued. 'Let me tell you something that has helped me keep my own priorities.' And that's when he began to explain his theory of a thousand marbles.'
'You see, I sat down one day and did a little arithmetic. The average person lives about seventy-five years. I know, some live more and some live less, but on average, folks live about seventy-five years. 'Now then, I multiplied 75 times 52 and I came up with 3900, which is the number of Saturdays that the average person has in their entire lifetime.
Now, stick with me, Tom, I'm getting to the important part. It took me until I was fifty-five years old to think about all this in any detail', he went on, 'and by that time I had lived through over twenty-eight hundred Saturdays.' 'I got to thinking that if I lived to be seventy-five, I only had about a thousand of them left to enjoy. So I went to a toy store and bought every single marble they had. I ended up having to visit three toy stores to round up 1000 marbles I took them home and put them inside a large, clear plastic container right here in the shack next to my gear.' 'Every Saturday since then, I have taken one marble out and thrown it away.
I found that by watching the marbles diminish, I focused more on the really important things in life. There's nothing like watching your time here on this earth run out to help get your priorities straight.' 'Now let me tell you one last thing before I sign-off with you and take my lovely wife out for breakfast. This morning, I took the very last marble out of the container. I figure that if I make it until next Saturday then I have been given a little extra time. And the one thing we can all use is a little more time.'
'It was nice to meet you Tom, I hope you spend more time with your family, and I hope to meet you again here on the band. This is a 75 Year old Man, K9NZQ, clear and going QRT, good morning!' You could have heard a pin drop on the band when this fellow signed off. I guess he gave us all a lot to think about. I had planned to work on the antenna that morning, and then I was going to meet up with a few hams to work on the next club newsletter.
Instead, I went upstairs and woke my wife up with a kiss. 'C'mon honey, I'm taking you and the kids to breakfast.' 'What brought this on?' she asked with a smile. 'Oh, nothing special, it's just been a long time since we spent a Saturday together with the kids. And hey, can we stop at a toy store while we're out? I need to buy some marbles.
A friend sent this to me, so I to you, my friend.
And so, as one smart bear once said....'If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day, so I never have to live without you.' -

I am watching the Challenge Cup Final (Rugby League). I don't like League as much as I do Union, but this has been a breathless match and the underdogs (Warrington) have won. Great fun.
The Union season gets underway next week (while I'm in Germany with 19 teenagers!), and my first match as a proper spectator will be on 12th September. I can hardly wait.

"What is the sound of a thousand kitty paws applauding?" MerD, that's for you and the wonderful story.
I love my Saturdays too.Not having to get up at the crack of *ss, but being awakened by a hungry, purring Tansey.. having irish cream in my coffee because I don't have to go to work (YAY) and today, having Dan join me at the Farmer's Market to pay for and carry all the lovely local produce we bought for canning more of "Siobhan's whupass salsa" (lol).
Going back for another nap and a 24 minute cuddle with Hermes, and now checking my email while listening to Sunny on the Food network (she's making baklava).
Going to be busy this weekend: making salsa, canning jalapeno slices and sweet banana pepper rings, and making/freezing pesto with the TON of fresh basil in my garden.

I see the neurosurgeon on Monday so I am going to ask him to write a letter supporting my three days in the hospital. UGH, I don't have 5000 but I will pay 5.00 for the surgeon's time to type up a letter. Just got home from my visit to the VET with the girls. Traumatic! I was again in tears trying to catch the girls who were absolutely horrible to catch. They were kicking, spittiing, scratching and twisting into ways I didn't know kitty's could. Finally we get settled in the carriers and off we went. Wilma cried the whole way. Broke my heart. Betty was p o'd at me and turned her butt to me. Wilma is 9.25lbs and healthy as can be. Betty is 8lbs and needs some dental work. Her back teeth look AWFUL! I felt that I was a bad meowmy when I saw them. The vet said not to worry, there is no way I could have known. Betty has to go back, have a thorough cleaning and they are going to work on trying to save the last two teeth on the left (in the back). They were so happy to get back in the carriers! They are now well hidden in the basement. Hope I see them before monday! LOL
