  1. Hey y'all,

For a variety of reasons I have lost my house and have to be out by next weekend. I am going to stay with my dad, but can't/won't take Lady. (Dad's wife's granddaughter lives with them. Is not quite two. Has no concept of NO. Not a good mix with a kitty who's never been around children.) I don't want to give Lady up; I know she'll never be adopted, because she's a senior kitty and pretty skittish around new people.

Is there anyone close by that would be willing to foster her for me for a few months?

  2. Bella, I'm so sorry you've lost your home. This is a tough time for a lot of people. {{{hugs}}}

I wish I were closer - or even in the same country! - but obviously can't help. But just a thought - with Lady being a senior cat, and if it's only pretty short term, couldn't she be confined to one room, be shut in your room while you're at your Dad's? Sorry, I'm sure you've considered all possibilities, but thought it worth a mention.

  3. Problem is, I won't have a room to myself. I'll be sleeping in the living room. Otherwise, I'd take her with me. That and the demon child doesn't recognize closed doors. :(

  4. Aaah, I see. I'm sorry, that won't be easy, demon child or no demon child.

Keep this one bumped up Bella, as you know it can be pretty slow here weekends. From a similar thread a while back I remember someone mentioning Craig's list, which might be of help to you. Can you ask at your vet's too, maybe put up a poster?

  5. I wish you were in California...

  6. I live in California too and my roommate has allergies that make it a bad idea to have a long-hair cat in the house.

There has got to be a TDKer close by that could help, but you might have to wait until Monday when more people online.

  7. Well, I'll keep bumping and see what I come up with. It would be easier I know to just find a permanent home for her, but. . . .she's my baby. I hope to have a job and a place of my own within a few months, where I can have her with me.

  8. im prettty close like 2-3 hours to you i live in trenton ga but im already fostering a mama cat and her 4 kittens i can ask though? does she do well with other cats?

Posted 2 years ago by ilovecatsforever #

  9. I don't know; she's never really been around other cats. My mom brings her little dog over sometimes, though, and she basically ignores him, so I think she'd be OK with other cats.

  10. ok well my mom comes home in bout a hour or so and i'll ask then but dont get ur hopes up just yet because she could go two different ways and um can you tell me alittle bit bout her like her temperment and stuff so that i can work on convincing my mom i really want to help you out on this and you can totally trust her in my care (here i am getting my hopes up after i asked u not too LOL) i read on your catster page that she doesnt like strangers that much will she eventually come around if i give her space and attention and such

  11. Oh yeah, she's fine once she warms up to people. She's very quiet, generally just finds a corner of a bed or a shelf and sleeps most of the time. She's very affectionate to me, and probably would be to other people once she got to know them. She's spayed, up to date on her shots, and has been microchipped. But she needs to stay inside; in her younger days she was an outside kitty, and occasionally she remembers that and wants to go wandering off. ;)

  15. Well, a year ago I would have said Sharon. But. . .she's taking care of kitties at the Bridge. :)

  16. ok that would be no problem at all and it just so happens scooby likes the same food as her so they'll be plenty of that i'll probably try to keep him away from her since hes still kinda of a kitten and she 14 so that should reduce some of the stress and im home alot so she'll have all the attention she wants is there any behavior you dont allow her to do such as on the couch cabnets and such i let scooby do whatever and i dont want her to return home thinking that stuff is ok to do im sorry for asking so many questions lol oh and um b4 i forget i have to put scooby in a room b4 i leave or he darts out is that a problem with her?

Posted 2 years ago by ilovecatsforever #

  17. Most of the time she doesn't try to dart out, but I'd watch her. I try to keep her off the kitchen cabinets and dining room table, but that's about it. :)

  23. Bella...I'm so sorry to hear you've lost your home. *sobs* It's wonderful that your father is helping you out temporarily but it breaks my heart to hear that you can't keep Lady with you. *sobs some more* I know that CatWoman is in Ga. Not sure about how much room she has. I hope she sees this thread though. Maybe she could help temporarily. I'm in Oregon and afraid I can't help Lady. I can Pray for her and you both though. Lady is such a beautiful girl. *still sobbing* =(

  26. Got the message, and also an email from MCW. I would love to help, however...I am really over my head with my 6 cats and the 4 additional. If Lady is not used to other cats, this might not be the best place for her. I also have a very loud 12 year old and occasional older sons coming in and out. I am going out of town for a wedding in two weeks and will be gone for a week, and am reluctantly having my older sons stay here and care for my cats and dog. Also, I often go out of town for work for several days at a time. I'm wondering if Dragonwing would do it? I have his personal email, so email me and I'll give it to you. If all else fails I can clean out a room that is currently used for storage (it is actually a bedroom, no furniture) and put her in there by herself, but with the upcoming travel I'd rather do so when I am going to be home to take care of her. My last week of travel is the end of September/first week of October.

  27. I just emailed Dragonwing to see if he could help. He and Sharon provided transport for rescue groups, so maybe he can use his connections to find a temporary home for Lady.

  28. Thanks, CW. I appreciate it.

  29. Bella, I just got the message from CW and gave her my number to pass on to you. I will be happy to take her in for a while. As long as she can get along with my 6 it should be fine. Having 7 will be no more than having 6. And I have a kennel area with a roof on it where she can go "outside" and still be protected/corralled.
    We'll work out the details...

  30. Oh thank you so much Dragonwing,I'm sure Bella will be so relieved.
