  2. haha! I should add that he emailed this after I polished off a bag of sour cream and onion potato chips last night...stop judging me!

  3. OMG! sour cream and onion is one of my favourites. Haven't had any for over a year though. I'm restricted to low fat low sugar snacks. Must add I don't really miss the old snacks though. Apparently it takes 3 weeks to break a habit.

  7. I OD'd on Sour Cream and Onion chips a long time ago. These days my vice is Chester's Puffcorn in the butter flavor. *drools* Puffcorn

  8. That is some great stuff, HM...and it goes down far, far too easily. (Supposedly, there are 7 servings in a bag...as if!)

  9. Okay now I don't want the same snack food. I always am changing things. Guess what I am obese! Doesn't work for us all!

  10. YES!!!! Smack him, WTF!!!!

  11. I like pretzels, especially the 'butter' ones. There's a pretzel crisp that looks like a cracker and I -really- like those, they're crunchier than pretzels.

I also like the BIG pretzels, the soft ones that you dip in cheese sauce (lol)

I prefer salty snacks to sweet things, and yeah, I'm obese too. I once lost 80 pounds on Medifast, but for the life of me, I could NOT keep the weight off while I was going to the gym 5x a week. I got so dang HUNGRY.

Although my current bout of colitis has caused a fifteen-pound weight loss. Small consolation...

  12. And, let's talk about demonistic snack food creators. The same folks who created the pretzel chips that I so adore, has a variety smothered in dark chocolate.

PERFECT PMS food for women...salty and chocolate (lol)

  13. I'm neither obese nor a woman but I REALLY wish you people would stop mentioning butter! AAaaaarrrrggghhhh....time to get some popcorn!

  14. Tom doesn't want to get a dog because he knew he would need to live in the doghouse soon!! LOL.... Just don't let him show it to Ron!! I can eat my favorite snacks over and over and over...same with breakfast, lunch and dinner...hahhaa

  15. Sour Creme & Onion Chips or Cheetos/puffy or crunchy...Mmmmm pass the bags around now & I'll grab a diet Coke...ha ha!

Posted 2 years ago by jeankit #

  16. Hahha Elm. I was thinking the same thing some good buttery movie popcorn bucket hehe. You think that is bad I have shacking head at self polished off a whole bag of salt and vinegar chips. Yes WWM I said Salt!

Now I try to be more controlling but have you tried to sit down to a good movie and munch on granola? Not as satisfying hahaha!

  17. Okay and WTH does drugs and fat women have in common to deal with this study? That was a smack in the face to be sure!

Posted 2 years ago by Momma to 2 MaineCoons #

  18. "Okay and WTH does drugs and fat women have in common to deal with this study? That was a smack in the face to be sure!"

The chemicals in the brain that reinforce drug addiction are similar to the chemicals that reinforce one's affinity for specific foods. It's relevant information to learning how and why certain people are predisposed to becoming obese.

One common way to try to reduce overeating is to offer people less variety with every meal. But if this actually reinforces the desire to eat that food with a certain segment of the population, that's very valuable information to helping people stay healthier.

I don't see how reporting information about brain functions is a smack in the face to anyone.

  19. My complaint is the tying of drugs to obeseity. And I am also a tad ticked they only tested women why not men? Learnign about brain functions is a good thing jsut sometimes the ties or relations that are tied together are not very flattering. having said that I am leaving this thread alone!

  20. I like the prezel nuggest stuff with peanut butter. Oh so addicting. Yep, another addiction. Oh well.

  21. SOM...pretzels with peanut butter....I love them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Posted 2 years ago by 2bpurring #

  22. "My complaint is the tying of drugs to obeseity."

Who is your complaint aimed at? The human brain, because it works the way it does?

"And I am also a tad ticked they only tested women why not men?"

Maybe that's for the next study. Maybe the researcher has more experience studying female metabolism. You should ask the researcher himself:

You can e-mail him directly from that page. It would be interesting if you could report back to us what his reply is.

  24. "Fluffy please."

I was being serious about contacting the professor. If no one else will, I'll e-mail him myself.

  25. What about obese men ?? Is Tom a fatty and asking you to help him put his chips down ??

    Posted 2 years ago by spanky_mouse #

  26. Spanky Mouse, Tom nor Dee is a "fatty". Dee is the TDK version of CNN, only she finds us news and informative articles that you won't see on CNN. She posts these interesting news articles and events to keep us informed on many things that don't make international headlines. Sometimes we discuss our opinions, sometimes we get a good chuckle, sometimes the news makes us mad, but jump to action for a cause. Personally Dee's news keeps me aware of so much of the world around me that I otherwise would miss and at the same time fills me with knowledge that I can share in conversation with others.

  27. 2bpurring - really I was trying to be funny !! Sorry if it didn't come across that way !
