Seriously, when your kids are having kids, it's time to close up shop!

  3. Wow - just, wow. I am open to all faiths and beliefs, but honestly?? 19?!

  4. Uh... well... gee... I have NO words for this..... :(

  5. And who knows when number 20 will come to pass? If each of the children followed their parents' lead, that's approximately 400 grandchildren Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar wiil have to babysit, buy presents for, and generally spoil rotten.

  6. Honestly...with so many children these days needing adoptive parents, shame on them. I'm surprised her ut***s hasn't fallen to the ground.

  10. I keep thinking that at this point, even the Lord Himself is saying, "You know, I didn't mean for you to take that 'be fruitful and multiply' stuff so literally"!

  11. My question has always been (and remember I'm not a mom) but how the heck do they find the privacy or time or the ENERGY to even, um, conceive more kids?!

Posted 2 years ago by Jetta and Boo Boo's Mom #

  12. Well, given that they basically have the older kids raise the younger ones, they have more time and energy than you would think.

  13. OMG wow 19 wow yeah im at a loss for words too

  14. Bless their hearts....better them than me! I'm the oldest of 8 myself, I can't imagine more than double that number...btw, I only have one kid, LOL!

  15. True.. their very own slave labor...sigh. I am not putting them down. More power to them. Actually, I'm more impressed that they live debt free and feed that brood on two grand a month.

  16. My mom went to high school with a girl who was the oldest of 22. She swore she'd never have kids. : )

  17. Maybe it's just me, but I have a hard time believing that they can live on $2000.00 a month. Geez, I'm a family of one and I spend more than that! Plus, do they get paid for their television show? If they're like 'John & Kate', they MIGHT be making upwards of $75,000.00 an episode. I really feel sorry for the older kids who have to act like adults way too early

  18. I suppose it is down to religious beliefs, and they don't believe in controlling the life force, but really - how do they AFFORD feeding and educating and housing all those kids? Did you see them all playing the violin? Lessons cost money! (Unless they're being sponsored, which is probably a real possibility - sorry, I didn't watch all the video). There is a slight 'greed' element of wanting more and more babies, specially when so many people can't have any. And hello, what age did she start? She looks only in her early 40s!!

Posted 2 years ago by eleniki #

  19. Well, there are two sets of twins there. Michelle is 42, and the oldest child was born in 1984. This bothers me about them:

"The Duggars follow the teachings of Bill Gothard, which include that children not go to college, children should not leave the home until they are married, families do not use birth control and refuse many forms of pre-natal care, stringent social conservatism (including ideas such as young-earth creationism) is strictly enforced and taught at a young age, and gender roles are adhered to." (from Wikipedia)

  20. So this is only her 17th actual pregnancy? Whew, that's more normal :)

  21. It amazes me at how happy these people all seem to be. Talk about masters of frugal!!!!! There's enough of them to have two teams of baseball players! Can't imagine what Christmas must be like at their house. Wow...spelled backwards...Wow!!!! =O

  22. Karenopa, at times of speechlessness like this, your Shady's bird-guarding expression is just perfect! :D

  23. At least all the children have the same father, although I have wondered how, um, strong Jim Bob would have to be (there's no real delicate way to ask what keeps his, um, 'lever', from breaking off).

Posted 2 years ago by Vicki #

  24. My dad was the youngest of 17. But those times were different. I can't imagine even having ONE child let alone 19. That's just too much.

Posted 2 years ago by HuddysMama #

  25. If I had one healthy daughter, I'd be happy, but since no child should be an only child (like I was for 15 1/2 years), I'd have to give her a healthy little brother. The Duggars have taken it WAY far, however.

  26. Well Vicki I've always heard the more a man uses it the more he CAN use it! Also, it's a really good thing in the prevention of prostate cancer. Looking for the silver lining... My mom was 8 of 10.. 5 pre and 5 post-depression. I always wanted 8 kids myself... sigh... not to be. Now that I'm 44, I don't think I could handel even 1. Bless all of you who do!

Posted 2 years ago by Jetta and Boo Boo's Mom #

  27. Well, you could do like OctoMom, Lainey...

Posted 2 years ago by Vicki #

  28. ::snickering::: yeah, I thought about the "i'll have a litter" route... if money were no object I'd seriously consider it... but alas, money is a major object, but then again, i could get my own reality show!

Posted 2 years ago by Jetta and Boo Boo's Mom #

  29. I have 2 girls under the age of 3 and I go crazy at times..I cannot fathom 19. Holy Cow.
I just think this is a bit excessive, but at least they are not on welfare spouting out the kids, they are responsible for them. That's all I can really say other than wow.

  30. Agreed CM, agreed.
