Well all I have only driven in the driver's seat once since my accidnet on August 25, and I have about 4 times driving in the car total. Well this Sunday we are going up to Palo Alto cat tree shopping. The place I got the new tree for the kitchen is having a cat tree sale agian of 30% off trees which makes them cheaper the Petsmart and Petco combined plus quality and sturdiness is awesome and they have a large variety available. Bad part is I will be driving past the scene of my accident. This time I will be a passenger and will be in my sd's huge F-350 truck! I am hoping it helps me beat this anxiety to driving that I have acquired since th accident! Wish me luck for the drive as well as finding an amazing tree to add to my bedroom!

Thanks WWM! Yup I'm trying to get back on the horse and has a passenger in the car I have been actually driving in the spot my one neice was in on the right hand side where the most damage was. I am tryign to conquer this issue because for my work I nee dto drive and I am not the type to allow anything to make me afraid or to act in a fashion that is not true to my nature. Brave and bold is my motto. Nothing can not be over come. But I am finding this one more difficult to over come. In the back of my mind I keep hearing myself say I am never ever gonna drive or get in a car again. And the fact I am thinking it makes me annoyed. So I am forcing myself to do it. I could have staye din town by going to petco or petsmart for a new tree and paid the higher price. But I am hoping by driving past the spot and in a sense finishing my trip that perhaps I can move forward and relax in the car again when I drive.

Now, visualize yourself driving a car and knowing that you are a careful driver and that you are in control. Relax your breathing.....

Hahha WWM I am a safe driver. i jsut need the reassurance that the other drivers are! Since I wasn't the one to cause the accident I was rear ended because the driver behind me was not paying attetnion to the traffic ahead of them. Plus I was even more safer becasue I have driver that road for the past 3 summers regullary and know that that is a very high congestion area.
I feel if I can see the scene and drive through it agian jsut perhaps it will help.
If not well then will have to conquer fear by driving and waiting for time to pass and blur the memory!

Want to take bets that the other driver was talking on their cell phone? I nearly was run off the road on my bike the other day because some woman was talking on her cell phone. She was also looking right at me. Yeah, I know what you mean about the other drivers!

Hahha WWM nope either talking or texting or maybe got to involve din a conversation with his buddy in the vechile. WHile catching a lift in the tow truck on my way home with the car, I saw 7 people talking with a non hands free phone and 10 people texting on their phones while driving. Oh and one guy was reading the newspaper, a woman was get this shaving her lefts! I can only assume cruise control on that one!

Honey I feel for you. I had an accident years ago and felt just as you are describing now. I know it will pass for you. Aug 25th is not that long ago. I thought I would never feel comfortable driving again.I am fine now but still do not like traffic. Why I live in the middle of nowhere now. Town popluation about 190 ,people not thousand, or so. 500+ in out WHOLE zip code. Hehehehehe
Palo Alto caught my eye. I used to live in Los Altos.1965 Hehehe I am older then dirt alomst. Went to Los Altos high for one semester before we moved away. Ice Skated at the old Winter Club when I was a kid and I doubt it is even there any more.

Thanks Chris, I am not sure if the old Skate rink is still there or not. i mostly go to Palo Alto for Summer work. Never really get off of El Camino Real. The pet store i am going to is almost right across form work which is why I know of it and picke dup a card the last time I went in.
Wow 190 people? Sounds like heaven. I am a country girl at heart and this city living drives me nuts. Used to have open fields around us now all new homes. I hope one day to find a place in a nice green area with lots of vegitation and a very low population myself.

Have been through two car accidents myself so fully appreciate how you feel. It will get easier with time. I still can startle easily especially if somebody is coming from my left side in an unusual way. When you pass the area try to reframe it by thanking God you made it through. Reframing traumas is how I've gotten through some pretty hair traumas. Still, enjoy your trip to get your babies a new cat tree. You know they'll love their mama for getting them one! Thanks katzenMother! I know it is gonna take awhile to get back ont he horse so to speak. but I really wish my first tastes of driving ont he freeway again was not with the am morning commute and the evening going home commute. But I will do what I must to get it done and hopefully Sunday will help wrap the rest up for me. I know I wont be fixed and anxiety free but I hope it will releive some of it for me!

I worked all day yesterday on our house and today at my job. Did you get your kitty tree yet? How did it go? Suppose we are going to have to get one for here now with the two big guys and now the kitten. Sigh No idea where to put one. This is a smallish house. Hope your trip went well.
Oh and as most towns around. There are lots of places for sale around here.Even a cute one next door sort of to us. We live on a triangle lot and this house is on one side. Very little employment unless you want my job. GGGRRRR I am about done with it.
